PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Pittsfield Community Television announced the creation of the "Berkshire County High School Football Game of the Week" for the 2021 season.

Each week during the upcoming fall sports season, PCTV Sports will select one high school football game on the schedule in Berkshire County for broadcast live on Pittsfield ETV Channel 1302 in Pittsfield, the PCTV Select App, available on Roku and Apple TV, and Pittsfield Community Television's Facebook page.

"We had great success and tremendous feedback from the viewing public during last year's productions held at Berkshire Community College," said Bob Heck, Coordinator of Advancement and Community Production at PCTV, as well as the station's lead play-by-play announcer.  "We decided to create the High School Game of the Week broadcast to build on those efforts.  We hope that the expanded coverage for teams throughout the county has a great impact for the players, their schools and families, and the entire region."

PCTV also announced the first Game of the Week will feature the Pittsfield High Generals traveling to Dalton to take on the Wahconah Warriors.  Last season's game between the two schools was a back-and-forth thriller that Pittsfield won 34-28 on a late touchdown by Generals' QB Patrick Rindfuss.

"The community appreciated what we did last year, and local businesses supported us, so we figured we'd go even bigger this year," Heck said.

PCTV will announce additional "Games of the Week" soon but will be looking to "flex" games and pick the most anticipated game in the county based on how teams are doing and, later, playoff implications.

The non-profit television station credits the community's support and donations and their ability to continue to upgrade their technology to do more live games from more places as the reason for taking this next step in sports coverage.

"The ability to broadcast these games not just throughout Berkshire County, but to the entire world on Facebook and our PCTV Select App is a game-changer," said Heck.  "The comments on Facebook from grandparents and alumni from all around the country makes the effort worth it."

PCTV will announce its upcoming games on its Facebook page throughout the football season.
