Williams Volleyball Opens 7-0

BRISTOL, R.I. -- Lauren Kauppila passed out 31 assists Saturday to lead the Williams volleyball team to a three-set win over Roger Williams.
 
Christina Confortti had nine kills and 10 digs for Williams, which improved to 7-0 win the 25-22, 25-19, 25-19 win.
 
Williams hosts Hamilton on Friday.
 
Football
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Robert Maimaron ran for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns Saturday to lead Williams to a 41-13 win over Middlebury in the season opener for both teams.
 
Maimaron also completed nine of 17 passing attempts for 136 yards and a score for Williams, which goes to Tufts next Saturday.
 
Field Hockey
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Catherin Torres scored to break a 1-1 tie and send Williams on to a 2-1 win over Wesleyan.
 
Shea van den Broek also scored a goal, and Carson Stephenson and Gates Tenerowicz combined to make three saves for Williams (4-1, 1-1 NESCAC), which goes to Wellesley on Sunday.
 
Men's Cross Country
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Elias Lindgren and Grahm Tuohy-Taydos tied for first place to lead Williams to a Little Three Championship at Mount Greylock Regional School.
 
Williams finished with 15 points to beat Amherst (50 points) and Wesleyan (77).
 
Williams hosts the Purple Valley Classic at Mount Greylock next week.
 
Women's Cross Country
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Williams women won their 13th straight Little Three title, outpointing runner-up Amherst by a margin of 27-38.
 
Alex Bettez led Williams with a fourth-place finish.
 
Men's Soccer
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Daniel Zhang scored in the 68th minute to erase a one-goal deficit and give Williams a 1-1 tie with Wesleyan.
 
Michael Davis made four saves for Williams (2-1-1, 0-1-1), which hosts Babson on Sunday.
 
Women's Soccer
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Wesleyan's Grace Devanny scored in the fifth minute, and the Cardinals went to a 1-0 win over Williams.
 
Chelsea Taylor made three saves for Williams (1-2-1, 0-2-1), which hosts Springfield College on Sunday.
