Williams Football Wins in OT to Go to 2-0

MEDFORD, Mass. -- Joel Nicholas scored on a 4-yard touchdown run in the first overtime Saturday to give the Williams College football team a 32-29 win over Tufts.
 
Ivan Shuran kicked a 33-yard field goal with 43 seconds left in regulation to cap a 13-play, 59-yard drive for Williams to tie the game.
 
Bobby Maimaron threw for 198 yards and a touchdown, and Nicholas ran for 94 yards and two scores.
 
Williams (2-0) travels to face Bowdoin on Saturday.
 
FIELD HOCKEY
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Trinity's Ashly Zigler scored in the second half to give the Bantams a 1-0 win over Williams.
 
Carson Stephenson and Gates Tenerowicz combined to make two saves for Williams (5-2, 1-2 NESCAC), which goes to Montclair State on Sunday.
 
WOMEN'S SOCCER
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Tess Flanders scored in the first half to give Trinity a 1-0 win on Cole Field.
 
Chelsea Taylor made two saves for Williams (2-3-1, 0-3-1), which hosts MIT on Sunday.
 
MEN'S SOCCER
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Jake Saudek and Nathan Song each scored to give Williams a 2-1 win over Trinity.
 
Ben Diffley made three saves for Williams (4-2-1, 1-1-1), which travels to play Amherst on Saturday.
 
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Genna Girard placed second to lead Williams to a team victory at the Purple Valley Classic at Mount Greylock Regional School.
