UNICO of Pittsfield to Honor Five New Hall of Fame Occupants

On Friday at 6 p.m. Berkshire Hills Country Club will host the UNICO of Pittsfield Induction dinner for five new members of the Pittsfield Baseball/Softball Hall of Fame.
 
They will join 133 others who have been inducted since 1996.
 
The 2021 inductees are:
 
♦ Jaclyn Candele, a 2007 graduate of Taconic High School. While Candalet was a member of the softball team, Taconic won a Western Mass championship and finished as finalists in the state tournament. It also was a three-time Berkshire County Northern Division champion, four-time city champions and undefeated in her senior year. Candalet’s softball versatility was highlighted when she was twice named to the All-Berkshire team as a  catcher and twice as a second baseman. She continued on to play for Springfield College before transferring to MCLA. She is presently the head softball coach at Taconic.
 
♦ Robert Drury, a 1976 graduate of St. Joseph’s high school. He was a four-year  member of the varsity football, basketball and baseball teams and captained all three in his senior year. As a catcher in  baseball, Drury was named to the All-Conference, All-Berkshire and All-Western Mass teams. He participated in three consecutive state final championships and was a member of the 1975 state championship team.
 
♦ Glenn Gagliardi, a graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was part of the 1974 baseball state championship finalists. In his senior year he compiled a record of 7-1 with an earned run average of 1.99. Gagliardi was named to the All-Berkshire team and honorable mention All-Western Mass in his senior year. After high school he played  at Berkshire Community College, where he compiled a pitching record of 5-1 and batted .300. He also pitched  for the Tyler Aces where he  complied a record of 5-1and batted an average of .350.
 
♦ Don Lucy, a 1967 graduate of Lee High School. He was captain of the football, baseball, and basketball teams. He was named to the first team All-Berkshire and All-Western Mass teams in all three sports. In football, he quarterbacked the team and led Western Mass in touchdown passes.  Lee was undefeated in his junior and senior years. In baseball, Lucy had a pitching record of 5-0  and maintained an ERA of .50 while batting 389. In basketball, he scored more than 1,000 points and led Lee to four Southern Berkshire championships. He earned  the Bobby Powers Award for Sportsmanship in basketball and was selected as the 1966 WBEC Sports Caravan Athlete of the Year for Berkshire County. 
 
♦ Judy Tierney-Nichols, a 1985 graduate of Pittsfield High School  She played varsity softball, soccer and basketball and captained each team. She was named to the Northern Division and All-Berkshire all-star teams in softball and basketball as well as the All-Western Mass second team in softball and basketball. The basketball and soccer teams were the Northern Division champions and Western Mass finalists. At Berkshire Community College, Tierney-Nichols played soccer and basketball and was named to the All New England  teams in both. She has served as a basketball, soccer and softball coach at the high school level, a softball travel team coach, and girls basketball director at the CYC/Boys and Girls Club.
