Williams Men's Tennis Advances to NCAA Quarter-Finals

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. –  The Williams College men's tennis team Sunday defeated Bowdoin, 5-1, to advance to the quarter-finals of the NCAA Division III tournament.
 
Wins at number one and number two doubles gave the Williams (15-3) a 2-1 lead over Bowdoin (16-6) heading into singles play.
 
Williams' third point came at No. 2 singles where Matt Kandel downed Reid Staples 6-2, 6-3.
 
Karan Amin at third singles recorded Williams fourth match point when he prevailed over Evan Fortier 6-3, 6-4.
 
Senior Michael Medvedev delivered the fifth and match clinching point for Williams when he defeated Jack Flores 6-4, 6-3.
 
Williams will travel to Orlando, Fla., to play the winner of Wisconsin Whitewater - Case Western Reserve match on May 23 in the NCAA round of eight.
 
Women's Tennis
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- MIT swept the doubles points, 3-0, and won the only singles matches played to completion to top Williams, 5-0, in the NCAA Sweet 16.
