PITTSFIELD, Mass. — On June 8 at 5:30 pm, actor and educator Stephen Collins will perform monologues from Melville's expansive novel "Moby-Dick."

Presented by the Berkshire County Historical Society at Herman Melville's historic Arrowhead, Collins's performance features the musings of Ishmael, Father Mapple, Captain Peleg, Starbuck, and Ahab. This free event is sponsored by Pittsfield Cooperative Bank and Lee Bank Foundation.

Stephen Collins grew up in Cambridge and received a BA in Literature from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. He teaches seminars on Walt Whitman, Thomas Hardy, William Shakespeare, Robert Frost, and Contemporary Poetry. He also performs in one-man plays by Carl A. Rossi, including “Sailing Towards My Father” as Melville, and as James Abbott McNeill Whistler in “Butterfly.”

In addition, Collins works as a professionally licensed tour guide narrating historical tours of Boston. His Walt Whitman performances have taken him all over the country. He now has eight one-man shows and seven courses where his teaching style has been described as a hybrid between lecture and performance.
