PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Baseball in the Berkshires continues an active summer this month with a speech on Thursday and a new display in Cheshire starting Tuesday, June 21.

On Thursday at 10:45 a.m., the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires hosts Baseball in the Berkshires director Larry Moore for an exploration of the rich local history of the “National Pastime” in our region.

The free program will be presented in person as part of the Federation’s Connecting with Community Series presented at Knesset Israel and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $3 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others.

Reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program. Knesset Israel is at 16 Colt Road in Pittsfield.

Five days later, the Baseball in the Berkshires museum will open a special exhibition at the Cheshire Community Center.

“Sliding Baseball Across Adams and Cheshire” will be on display at 80 Church St., in Cheshire from June 21 through June 30.

The exhibit, which features displays on Dale Long and Mark Belanger, will be available for viewing from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from June 21-24 and again from 9 to June 27-30.

In conjunction with the Cheshire exhibit, Baseball in the Berkshires will offer a special showing of the film, “Belanger: Big League Ball Player, Small Town Story,” on Wednesday, June 22, at 1 p.m.
