ADAMS, Mass. – The Pittsfield Little League American Division All-Stars secured a spot in the 12-year-old Don Gleason District 1 title game on Sunday afternoon.

Who they will meet in that final is anyone’s guess.

The Americans improved to 3-0 in the five-team round robin with a 13-3 win over the city rival Pittsfield Nationals at Willard “Beaver” Bard Field.

Two other teams also have a shot at three wins, but they play one another in Tuesday’s finale of the round-robin.

Great Barrington (2-1) earned its second win of the tournament on Sunday with a 15-3 victory over Dalton-Hinsdale (0-3).

Host Adams-Cheshire, which has played just two games so far, is 1-1 heading into Monday’s matchup against the Nats (1-2), who still have hope of making the final if they end up joining Great Barrington and Adams-Cheshire in a three-way tie for second place.

Great Barrington, 15, Dalton-Hinsdale 3

Trevor Leonard hit a two-run triple to right in the top of the first in the middle of a four-run rally as Great Barrington took control early.

It tacked on two more runs in the second and four in the third to go ahead, 10-0.

John Ireland had a two-run double in the third, which also saw Kasen Raifstanger (3-for-3) hit a two-run single.

Dalton Splawn, Judah Kammeyer and John Garpa each had a hit in that third-inning rally.

In the bottom of the third, Noah Aldrich hit a one-out double and ended up scoring on a pitch to the backstop to get Dalton-Hinsdale on the board.

But Great Barrington hung five more runs on the board in the top of the fourth. Oliver Donovan delivered a two-run single to put his team up, 15-1.

Dalton-Hinsdale fought hard to avoid the 10-run rule in the bottom of the frame.

Aiden Roots reached on an error, and Connor Cook dropped a single into right field. Lucas Lussier and Beau Sanders then each drove in a run to get Dalton-Hinsdale within 12 runs.

It ended up loading the bases with two out before Great Barrington’s Erik Miller ended the game with a strikeout to strand all three runners.

Miller and Kammeyer pitched in relief of starter Levi Martin to combine on the four-hit, four-inning win.

Evan Charter, Sanders and Aldrich threw for Dalton-Hinsdale.

Pittsfield American 13, Pittsfield National 3

One day after the programs’ 11-year-old squads battled to a 2-1 decision in a pitchers duel, the Americans jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of their Williamsport division game.

They did so by playing small ball. After Ben Sykes led off the game with a single and Brendan Merwin reached on a two-base error with one out, Mario Zerbato and Aiden Arseneau laid down back-to-back RBI bunts to make it 2-0. Zerbato ended up scoring on a pitch to the backstop, and Arseneau came home on a groundball out from Eli Kristenson.

The Nats struck back in the top of the third.

After Chase O’Donnell and Carmine Carnute each drew a walk, Jason Fields hit a titanic home run down the third base line and over the fair pole to make it 4-3 and put a charge into his team.

Pittsfield American starter Sebastian Herrera stopped the bleeding with a pair of strikeouts on his way to seven Ks in 3-one/third innings of work.

And the Americans offense got a run back in the bottom of the frame when Zerbato walked, stole second and moved around on a pair of errors to make it 5-3.

The big damage came in the bottom of the fourth. Herrera and Brendan Merwin delivered back-to-back singles, and a combination of walks, hit batters and pitches to the backstop opened the floodgates to a five-run inning and a 10-3 lead for the Americans.

Merwin, who relieved Herrera in the fourth, got three strikeouts while allowing a single in the top of the fifth, and his offense rewarded him with three runs in the bottom of the inning to end the game.

Merwin and Arseneau drew walks ahead of Grayson Koenig’s RBI single. Arseneau ended up scoring on a passed ball, and Mason Daley hit a single up the middle to score Koenig and end the game.

Herrera and Merwin combined to strike out 11 in five innings.

Fields, Jace Coco and Kalvin Phillips threw for the Nationals.
