DALTON, Mass. – Ava Jigiello tripled and drove in three runs Saturday as the Adams-Cheshire-Savoy Swat 10-and-under travel team defeated the Berkshire Force, 15-6, to claim the first championship of the weekend at the 12th annual Dalton CRA Invitational Softball Tournament.

Olivia Archembault struck out four in two innings of work to pick up the win in the come-from-behind victory that was cut to three innings due to the tournament’s time rule.

Yesterday marked the second day of the three-day tournament.

On Sunday, three more age group championships will be decided with finals in the 12U Division (3:30 p.m.), 14U Division (3 p.m.) and 16U (4:45 p.m.).

ACS Swat and Berkshire Force were the only two teams entered in the 10U Division.

The Swat earned a 17-7 win on Friday evening, giving it a chance to clinch the title in Saturday’s 11:30 start. The Force needed a win in order to force a Game 3 later on Saturday.

And it came out looking like it could do just that, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning.

Mariah Thomas, Addie Farkas, Trinitee Mayotte and Anna Hadsell drew consecutive walks to start the inning, and the Force put four runs across the plate before ACS starter Tenley Biros was able to close the door with back-to-back strikeouts.

The Swat got a run back in the bottom of the first when Genna Greene reached on an infield single, stole second, moved up on a pitch to the backstop and scored on Jagiello’s RBI groundout.

But the Force got that run back and stretched its lead to 6-1 in the top of the second thanks to a couple more walks from Dailonna Martin and Bethie Isham-Morton to start the inning and an RBI single from Farkas in the middle of the rally.

Archembault moved from first base to the pitching circle to shut the door, ending the inning with runners at second and third with a called third strike.

And her offense rewarded her with a seven-run Swat rally in the bottom of the second.

Skyana Field led off with a solo home run, and Kylee Mazza and Evelyn Richardson worked walks ahead of an RBI single from Biros and Jagiello’s two-run triple. Archembault helped her cause with a walk and some aggressive baserunning to give ACS a 8-6 lead through two.

Archembault was nearly unhittable in the top of the third, striking out the side around Martin’s infield single to get ACS back to the plate. And the Swat tacked on seven more runs in the bottom of the inning, making the most of six walks and getting an RBI single from Greene.

Addie Leferriere took the loss for the Force, striking out four.

The Swat is scheduled to visit the Doyle Complex in Pittsfield on Monday to face the Force in their final regular season meeting in the Berkshire County Travel Softball League.

Berkshire Force 11, Greylock Thunder 3

The Force opened play in the 12U Division with the first game of the morning on Sunday, and it took control with a five-run third inning to take a 5-1 lead.

Izzy Williams hit a one-single, and Kaylee Jaros doubled at the bottom of the Berkshire order to ignite the rally. Molly Isham-Morton and Jianna Kruger singled before the rally was through.

The Thunder got a run back in the bottom of the third, but the Force scored twice in the top of the fourth on a two-run double from Jaros to make it 7-2.

And the Force tacked on four more runs in the top of the fifth, when Lily MacDonald doubled in a run, and Williams and Addy Pause each drove in a run to help make it a nine-run lead.

In the top of the fifth, Greylock’s Gianna Witek led off with a double, moved to third on K.J. Livingston’s infield single and stole home, and the Thunder got two runners on with two out before Williams got the final out on a comebacker to the circle.

She pitched two innings in relief of Force starter Amaya Alger, who struck out five in three innings.

Witek struck out four for the Thunder, who got three hits from Williams and two apiece from MacDonald and Jaros.

Both teams advance to Sunday’s semi-finals in the four-team tournament, starting at 11:30 a.m.

The Force Saturday beat host Dalton and ended up the top seed in the semi-finals. It will face Dalton again at 11:30 for a berth in the final. The Thunder late Saturday fell to Rip City, 13-7; those teams will meet again on Sunday at 1:15 in the semis.

KC North Roos 16, Dalton 5

Kylee Suprenant hit a two-run home run, and Rowan Wood tripled in a pair of runs to lead the Plattsburgh, N.Y.,-based Roos in the 14U Division.

Lily Natishak earned the win in the circle with four strikeouts.

The Roos jumped out to a 5-0 lead after batting around in the top of the first and never looked back.

Though KC did threaten to end the game after three innings when it scored five in the third to take a 14-1 lead.

Needing to score a pair to avoid a 12-run, three-inning mercy rule loss, Dalton scored three times with a two-out rally in the bottom of the third.

Rylan Lamb started it with an infield single, and Tora Thoresen moved her into scoring position.

Malena Haczela then tripled to drive in a pair of runs. She came home on Julia McComish’s RBI single to make it 14-4.

Suprenant’s homer gave KC a 16-4 lead in the next frame, and needing to keep the margin 10 runs to win after four innings, the Roos gave up just one in the bottom of the fourth on Delana Helms’ solo homer.

Thoresen and Sydney Payson split the pitching duties for Dalton. Payso struck out four in three innings in the circle.

The loss dropped Dalton to 0-2 in the tournament’s seeding round. The Roos went on to a a 15-6 win over the ACS Swat, a 9-8 winner over the Berkshire Visors on Saturday.

In Sunday's semi-finals, the top-seeded Roos will face Dalton in a rematch at 9:45 a.m. Second-seeded ACS faces the Visors at 11:30.

16U Division

In other action on Saturday, six games were played in the 16-and-under division.

Mass Destruction earned the top seed in the seven-team field with a pair of wins over the Greylock Thunder and KC North Roos by scores of 16-0 and 13-1. The Destruction awaits the winner of Sunday morning's quarter-final between the Roos and ACS Swat, which dropped two games on Saturday and ended up seeded fifth.

The Berkshire Liberty 16U squad earned its second win of the tournament on Saturday, beating Halfmoon, N.Y., 10-0, to finish as the tournament's third seed with a rematch against Halfmoon in the quarter-finals.

The winner of that game will face either the Greylock Thunder or Brunswick, N.Y., in Sunday afternoon's semi-finals.

All games in the tournament are at Pine Grove Park.
