WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield Babe Ruth Baseball program is sending a pair of teams into the semi-final rounds of their respective New England Regional Championships on Tuesday.

 

In the 14-year-old age group, Pittsield Monday defeated Warwick, R.I., 6-4, in the quarter-finals to earn a berth in Tuesday game against Norfolk, Mass., at 10 a.m.

 

The winner of that game will take on the winner of the tournamet's 1 p.m. semi-final at 4 p.m. at Billy Bullens Field for the right to advance to the Babe Ruth World Series next month in North Dakota.

 

The Pittsfield Babe Ruth 13s had a bye in Monday's quarter-finals in its tournament in Trumbull, Conn.

 

Pittsfield Tuesday at 1 will face Tri-County, Maine, a 2-1 winner on Monday against North Providence-Smithfield, R.I. The winner of that semi-final will advance to Wedesday morning's championship game.

 

The 13-year-old World Series this year is in Virginia.

 

Pittsfield's 15-year-old team Monday lost a nail-biter to Waterford, Conn., 3-2, in the quarter-finals of the regional in Keene, N.H.
