PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Police have arrested a teenager on firearms and drug charges.
According to Detective Sgt. Jeffrey Arena, police were informed on Monday that the 17-year-old juvenile was in possession of a firearm and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
When he was arrested shortly afterward, police say he had a loaded handgun, a "substantial amount" of cocaine and a "large quantity" of cash.
The suspect, whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile, is facing the following charges:
• Carrying a loaded firearm without a license
• Possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card
• Trafficking in cocaine
• Possessing a firearm in the commission of a felony
• Violation of probation
The juvenile was to be arraigned in Pittsfield Juvenile Court on Wednesday.
This is the Police Department's sixth arrest of a juvenile whose criminal charges involve a firearm within the last six months.
