PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC) presents "Plein Air Impressionism," an exhibition of oil paintings by artist Gary Lecuyer, on view in Koussevitzky Gallery through Feb. 28, 2022.
The gallery is open Monday–Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Admission is free.
According to a press release:
Lecuyer captures the light, color and atmosphere of the landscape with short and quick brush strokes in his impressionist style of oil painting. He believes in "direct contact" with nature, painting in such locations as a deserted forest at 7 am in January because "the light is right." He began his study of oil painting as a student at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. After graduating, he continued his studies at the former William Schultz School of Art in Lenox, Massachusetts, where he focused on the technique and history of French and American Impressionism.
Lecuyer is a member of the Academic Artists Association and has exhibited at the Salmagundi Club in New York City. His works have been shown by numerous galleries and are in many private collections. The artist's paintings can be viewed online at www.garysgallery.net.
