PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Firefighters extinguished a Parker Street structure fire that was caused by faulty electrical wiring.

Firefighters responded to a structure fire on 111 Parker St. early Tuesday morning.

Upon arrival, firefighters were told by the homeowner that they were awoken by smoke detectors and there was heavy smoke in the attic.

Firefighters narrowed the source to an electrical box in the insulation between the attic and the second floor.

Firefighters quickly got the fire under control. There were no injuries, but there was light smoke, water and structural damage in the attic and a second-floor bedroom ceiling.

The members of the household, three adults and four children, were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
