Emerson College senior Esther Chilson of Lanesborough participated in a number of productions with the Boston college during the spring 2025 semester: "I Love XXX" in February; "Limber, A Love Story" from Feb. 26 to March 1 at the Greene Theater; also in March, six short plays at the 2025 NewFest Short Works in the college's Semel Theater and "Red Wolf," a show about a monster that knocks on a grieving family's door, in the Greene Theater.
Curry College in Milton welcomed Danielle Fusini of Windsor into the Alexander Graham Bell Honor Society. The objective of the society is to promote and recognize academic excellence and it is named for the famous inventor, an early chancellor at the college. Membership is limited to those students who have achieved dean's list every semester.
Almost 1,200 undergraduate students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute completed a senior capstone thesis that is required of all graduating seniors as part of the university's project-based educational experience, Major Qualifying Projects (MQP). These are professional-level research experiences in the students' fields of study.
MQPs are usually team-based and often focus on specific issues or needs of an organization that has partnered with the university to sponsor the students' work.
The following local students, all seniors, completed an MQP: Meghan Doane of Dalton, environmental engineering, "Feasibility of GAC as a Technical Standard for Drinking Water"; Isabella Kirby of Lanesborough, biochemistry, "Torque Teno Virus VP3 Structural and Localization Research": Samuel McCaffery of Lenox, majoring in computer science, "7Factor 2024-2025: AWS Analysis"; Jonathon Tran of Lenox, majoring in mechanical engineering, "NASA Lunabotics '24-'25," and Benjamin Brooks of Pittsfield, majoring in industrial engineering, "Inventory Management at AIS."
More than 250 of the college's students were honored by the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation with a variety of academic scholarships for the 2024-25 academic year at the Troy, N.Y., college
Automotive technical services students Jacob Ryan and Caleb Petruzella of Pittsfield received the DeGraff Family Scholarship and the Robert J. Kufs Memorial Scholarship, respectively, and Frankie Scialabba of Williamstown, studying dental hygiene was given the Robin Henkel Memorial Scholarship.
Arianna Coppola of Pittsfield is earning real-world experience as an Emmanuel College intern at Canyon Ranch in Lenox this summer. More than 110 of the Boston college's students are learning on the job and building professional networks through internships this summer.
Graduations
Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla., celebrated the academic and personal accomplishments of Katarina Andreola and more than 560 graduates from the class of 2025 on May 10. Andreola, from Dalton, has earned a bachelor of science degree in computer information systems and a bachelor of arts degree in marketing.
Daniella Santamarina of Pittsfield received a bachelor of arts degree, magna cum laude, from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. Santamarina was among 733 bachelor of arts degree recipients Holy Cross celebrated at its 179th commencement on Friday, May 23, at the DCU Center in Worcester.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute celebrated its 156th commencement on May 16, conferring 1,298 bachelor's degrees. The graduates included Meghan Doane of Dalton, majoring in environmental engineering, and Isabella Kirby of Lanesborough, majoring in biochemistry; and Benjamin Brooks of Pittsfield, who majored in industrial engineering, earning both bachelor's and master's degrees.
Stonehill College in Easton awarded 614 degrees at its 74th commencement on May 18, including to Aiden Astorino of Cheshire, Gianna Bertelli of Great Barrington and Alexa Yasinski of Pittsfield.
Jeffrey Hiltpold and Katherine Kerwood of Pittsfield graduated from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., on May 10.
Emmanuel College in Boston awarded more than 450 degrees to the class of 2025 at the college's 103rd commencement on May 10. Local students awarded degrees are Ana Azevedo of North Adams, bachelor of science in biology, and Rachel Smith of Pittsfield, bachelor of arts in communication and media studies.
Emerson College in Boston awarded approximately 1,000 undergraduate degrees to the class of 2025 during its 145th commencement on Sunday, May 11, including a bachelor of fine art in stage production and management to Esther Chilson of Lanesborough.
Clark University in Worcester awarded 468 undergraduate degrees and 1,014 advanced degrees during two ceremonies during its 121st commencement exercises on May 19. Among the graduates were: Madeline R. McMillan, bachelor of arts, and Maya Cooney, master of business administration, both of of Great Barrington; Kekoa Logofaatasi McArdle, magna cum laude, bachelor of arts, Gerdlie N. Jean Louis, magna cum laude, bachelor of arts with honors in music, and Morgan R. Martin of Pittsfield, summa cum laude, bachelor of arts, all of Pittsfield.
Samara Klein of Housatonic has received a master of library and information studies degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. UA awarded more than 6,000 degrees during its spring commencement ceremonies.
Jaden Coscia of Pittsfield graduated with a master of science in accounting from Nichols College in Dudley during the college's May 3, 2025, commencement exercises.
Luke Peplowski of Pittsfield received a bachelor of arts degree from Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., on Sunday, May 25, in a commencement ceremony. Peplowski majored in environmental studies.
Vermont State University in Randolph Center, Vt., held its commencement ceremonies on May 17. The following local students were awarded degrees: Isabel Wissner and Caroline Worthington of Pownal and Keri Serra of Stamford; and Massachusetts students Luc Levesque of Adams, Caleb Besaw of North Adams, Susan Healey Wicker, Nicholas Slocik and Rosa Tabango all of Pittsfield, and Amber Foster of Williamstown.
The College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee congratulates 279 students who graduated in spring 2025. They included local students Daniel Putignano of Adams, Savannah Morehouse of Cheshire, Jennifer Burns and Sarah Fortini of North Adams and Gabriela Leon and Whitney Zapotitla of Pittsfield.
American International College in Springfield held its 140th commencement ceremony on May 4 at the MassMutual Center. Among the graduates were Faith Hall of Adams, bachelor of science in psychology; Arnell Kouao of Pittsfield, bachelor of science in business administration in marketing; Kayla Johnson of Pittsfield, bachelor of science in psychology; Emily White of Pittsfield, master of education in early childhood education, and Cairagan Greene of Windsor, bachelor of science in psychology.
Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I., conferred degrees on the following local students at commencement ceremonies in May: Leah Petricca of Lanesborough, communication and media studies; Audrey Belanger, performing arts, and Ry Goodell, theater, both of North Adams; and Josh Hunter, marketing, and Madison Tobin, special education, both of Pittsfield.
Brianne Trudeau of Stamford, Vt., graduated from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire during its 154th commencement ceremonies on May 9-10. Trudeau graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science in psychology. She was among more than 650 class of 2025 undergraduate students who received degrees.
More than 2,800 students across all schools graduated from Tufts University on May 18 during a university-wide commencement ceremony. Earning degrees were Williamstown graduates Kate Pfister, summa cum laude, biopsychology, and Hazel Scullin, summa cum laude, engineering psychology.
