Ashley Scherben's class at Morris Elementary School created advertisements for Imperial Pools as part of their curriculum on persuasive writing.

Imperial Pools picked Tashi Zaretsky for first place, Charlotte Burke for second, and Emelyn Gimbert for third.

LENOX, Mass. — Fourth-grade students at Morris Elementary School participated in our Junior Marketers Create an Ad series.

Just weeks ahead of summer vacation, students in Ashley Scherben's class brought their daydreams of the cool pool under the hot summer fun to life as they created advertisements for Imperial Pools.

In their drawings the students demonstrated family fun, which is what pools are all about, said Keith LaFrance, owner of Imperial Pools.

Richard LaFrance opened Imperial Pools in Adams in 1963 and moved the business to Lanesborough a decade later. In 1986, it expanded for a third time, constructing its present building at 760 Cheshire Road in Lanesborough.

"We're pretty well rounded. We try to serve as many people as we can," Keith LaFrance said.

"We're very big on customer satisfaction. We find out what our customers' needs are, and we try to give them what they want and what they need."

Today, the family-owned business is in its third generation selling and installing steel wall in ground swimming pools, one-piece fiberglass pools, four above-ground lines, spas, and items to maintain the purchases.

"I love to take care of people. I love to build a pool for them, and they're happy, their families are happy, and it just makes me happy that I can do that," LaFrance said.

In their ads, the pupils demonstrated how pools are places where families and friends can relax, have fun, and create lasting memories together.

Students depicted Imperial Pool's offerings and satisfied customers by illustrating people having pool parties, doing cannonballs, relaxing in hot tubs, and having fun in their new pool.

Several of their advertisements included text saying how Imperial Pools is the best destination to find quality, clean pools to create lasting memories for decades to come.

LaFrance, along with Imperial Pools staff, selected the three winners as Tashi Zaretsky for first place, Charlotte Burke for second, and Emelyn Gimbert for third.

All the drawings were great but the thing that stood out to LaFrance for the winners was how "tremendously detailed" they were, the colors, and the "wonderful" wording.

"Imperial Pools is the way to go for a fun day with family and friends," Tashi wrote in her drawing of family and friends enjoying the pool and hot tub they got from Imperial Pools.

One of Tashi's characters exclaims "Imperial Pools is the best."

"Call today for fun in the sun" and Imperial Pools has "The best pools ever," Charlotte wrote in her drawing which showcased people enjoying the pool and making positive comments about the purchase.

Imperial Pools is "your go to shop for fun in the sun," Emelyn wrote, above people swimming in an above-ground pool and someone relaxing next to it.

"It's a company that doesn't sell you a bad pool that would break, and it sells different types," classmate Mia Martin said.

"If you get a pool and it gets dirty, you can call them, and they can fix it," Mila Collins added.

Part of the children's curriculum is persuasive writing and creating an ad for a local business is part of that, Scherben said.

They learned that persuasion is not just used in writing and that there are several different ways it is used including commercials and picture advertisements, she said.

"They are a super artistic bunch of kids, and they love drawing. So, I was not surprised by any of their drawings. They were all great.  I think they did a really good job."
