ARLINGTON, Vt., — There's a dog at Second Chance Animal Shelter who's ready to play and snuggle with his new family.

iBerkshire's Companion Corner is a weekly series spotlighting an animal in our local shelters that is ready to find a home.

Blake is a 3-year-old Poodle who has been at the shelter for a couple of weeks.

"Previous owner just didn't have enough time for him. They were having some life circumstances. We'll call it. He was with them for quite a while. He was originally brought to us. Somebody just kind of had him outdoors," said Shelter Manager Troy Quinn.

Blake is your average poodle who likes to stay busy and play. He loves playing with other dogs no matter their size and snuggling with you.

"He's a busy boy. He loves to play. He actually gets along great with other dogs. He had a little Beagle friend here who got adopted, who he played great with," Quinn said.

As a poodle his curls require great care and a healthy grooming regime.

"Grooming is the biggest thing with poodles, just keeping them from matting up, brushing and getting your trims, keeping your eyes and ears clean," Quinn said.

Blake also loves treats and knows certain commands.

"He definitely likes stimulation, being taught treat tricks and stuff like that," Quinn said.

Blake can go home with kids and other animals. He is very gentle with others but when he is excited for a walk can pull a little bit.

"He's been great with dogs, cats, kids. He could be a tiny bit jumpy, and he's definitely just very strong on the leash, but he does good. Yeah, he's very respectful, from what we've seen," Quinn said.

If you think Blake might be the boy for you, reach out to Second Chance Animal Shelter and learn more about her on the website.

Second Chance Animal Shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. It is located at 1779 VT Route 7A in Arlington. Contact the shelter at 802-375-2898 or info@2ndchanceanimalcenter.org.
