BerkshireJobs, an affiliate of iBerkshires, was at the fair to show the resources it can provide for jobseekers and employers. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — MassHire Berkshire Career Center last week held its first big in-person job fair since the pandemic. Local businesses and organizations were able to network with job seekers and find candidates for their openings. "There's a lot of businesses that are looking to fill positions and to be able to make meaningful connections between businesses and job seekers. DALTON, Mass. — The Select Board voted to maintain a single tax rate, as it has done in the past, during its meeting on Thursday night. All types of properties within the town, whether residential, commercial, or industrial, will be taxed at the same rate. Linda Tyer welcomes the crowd to her last tree lighting as mayor. She leaves office in January. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city's permanent Christmas tree was lit for the holidays for the first time on Friday. Though the young tree is currently 9 feet tall, it is expected grow up to 50 feet in time.
"Look at our petite sweet little Christmas tree. I know it's a surprise to all of you to see that we have planted a tree in Park Square instead of our past tradition of having a big tree donated," Mayor Linda Tyer said.

BOSTON — The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be sending nearly $3.5 million to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to reimburse it for the cost of providing vaccinations to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city will use $20 million in state American Rescue Plan Act funds to remove the deteriorating Bel Air dam. On Friday, members of the Healey-Driscoll administration celebrated the investment of $25 million in ARPA funding — most of it going to Pittsfield — to remove eight abandoned, hazardous dams in the commonwealth.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city is hosting 37 migrant families as part of the state's Emergency Assistance shelter program, providing wraparound services and resources to meet their needs.
On Tuesday, Mayor Linda Tyer provided an update on the program to the City Council as requested by Councilor at Large Karen Kalinowsky and Ward 2 Councilor Charles Kronick.
"There are no costs incurred by the city of Pittsfield for this program. The accommodations are paid for by the state and all of the food is paid for by the state," Tyer clarified.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The body of Staff Sgt. Jacob Galliher was recovered off the coast of Japan after the military aircraft he was on crashed Wednesday. The Pittsfield Police Department released a statement noting that Galliher was a 2017 graduate of Taconic High School. The statement included that Galliher leaves behind his wife and 2-year-old and 6-week-old sons. The Associated Press reported that on Nov. 29, an Air Force Osprey based in Japan crashed during a training mission off the country's southern coast.
