PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A 2-alarm structure fire at a Woodlawn Avenue apartment building left the building uninhabitable. The Pittsfield Fire Department was dispatched to a five-family at 181 Woodlawn Ave. around 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, they found heavy fire in the back of the downstairs apartment extending to the second floor. The blaze was under control in about an hour. Building Owner Jeremiah Ames, principal of Lenox Memorial High School, reported that all tenants described the fire as coming on "very, very fast." "All of our tenants are safe.  Leigh Davis will run on the Democratic party line in November to fill the 3rd Berkshire House seat being vacated by William "Smitty" Pignatelli. At just after 10:30 on Tuesday evening, with 97 percent of the votes counted, the Associated Press called the Democratic primary for Davis, a member of the Great Barrington Select Board. She had 56 percent of the votes, well ahead of her nearest challenger, Patrick White, who had 37 percent. Jamie Minacci was running a distant third with 6 percent of the votes that were in. The academy provides an opportunity for individuals to gain a better understanding of department operations and issues and topics effecting modern day policing. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Charter Review Committee has made suggestions that they hope will prevent charter objections from crippling agenda items.
This especially applies to the budget process, as it caused unrest two years ago when a former councilor charter objected in the 11th hour.
"We don't want a charter objection involving the budget process at all once it's moving because any delay can throw everything off," Chair Michael McCarthy said.
The committee will propose amendments to Article 2 Section 9C, Charter Objection, to allow for discussion, require three supporters, and be prohibited when it pertains to the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Two contrasting accounts of a May incident at Methuselah Bar and Lounge exist. The Licensing Board wants to see video footage before making a determination about alleged over-serving.
The panel continued a show cause hearing last week for the bar for the second time, hoping to review security and body camera footage at the next meeting.
"If someone downed eight drinks, I would really like to know how long and what time frame were those eight drinks consumed," board member Dennis Powell said.

 ADAMS, Mass. -- An eight-mile, mostly uphill climb to the the highest point in the commonwealth is enough of a challenge for any runner. For Mount Greylock Regional School senior Rafael Mellow-Bartels, Sunday brought another problem. "I think, for me, the main challenge was just running without anybody around me," Mellow-Bartels said after completing the 48th annual Mount Greylock Road Race. "It was kind of foggy for the last two miles, so I couldn't see anybody. I had my watch, so I knew how far I was, and I knew my pace. But I didn't know where anybody else was.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Voters will see few contests when they head to the polls for the state primaries on Tuesday.
Berkshire voters can weigh in on a three-way race for the Republican Party nominee for senator in Congress and the 3rd Berkshire District has three Democratic candidates vying for the nomination for state representative. Voters who are enrolled in a party can only vote in that party's primary. Voters who are unenrolled may chose which party primary to they wish to vote in. Massachusetts recognizes three parties: Republican, Democratic and Libertarian. There are no primary candidates this election for the Libertarian Party.
Polls are open from 7 a.m.
