Software Upgrades Impacting Pittsfield Online Permitting System

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Due to software upgrades, the Pittsfield Fire Inspection Bureau's permitting system, PermitEyes, will be temporarily unavailable beginning at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, through Sunday, Sept. 15.   Beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 11, the new version of PermitEyes will be live for the Fire Inspection Bureau. The new PermitEyes 20/20 program will be an upgrade to the current permitting program with an entirely new look and feel aimed at making the process more user friendly. Dalton Select Board Member Joseph Diver Steps Down

DALTON, Mass. — After serving on the board for almost two terms, about 5 1/2 years, Select Board member Joseph Diver announced that he would be stepping down on Oct. 1.   "It's been an absolute honor to serve the residents of Dalton being as an elected official. I hope we give [voters] the opportunity to have candidates campaign and have an election for whoever may replace me," Diver said on Zoom during Monday's Select Board meeting.    At a future meeting, the Select Board will discuss whether to hold a special election to fill his vacant seat or wait until Diver's term expires next June and have his seat up for election as part of the standard

BCC to Hold Annual Harvest Run

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC)'s annual Harvest Run will be held Saturday, Oct. 19.    The event, led by Integritus Healthcare, includes a 5K trail run and 1-mile Fun Run for kids.    Bib pickup begins at 8:30 am at the Paterson Field House, located on BCC's main campus at 1350 West Street in Pittsfield. The 5K run begins at 10 am, and the Fun Run begins at 10:45 am.    This year's theme, 1990s Nickelodeon cartoons. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes. In addition, there will be a cook-off competition, kids' activities and a craft table.     Race fees are $25 for individual 5K registrants by Oct.

BHS Opening Urgent-Care Facility in Lenox

LENOX, Mass. — Berkshire Health Systems is opening a second urgent-care location, with a new facility being developed at 489 Pittsfield Road, in the Center at Lenox. The facility is expected to open this winter.     Berkshire Health Urgent Care in Lenox will provide accessible care for minor illness and injuries, as well as on-site X-ray services and testing for common illnesses. Marchetti: Pittsfield's Toter System Is a Good Change

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mayor Peter Marchetti said the city needed to get on board with a new trash system before it was too late.

He shared information and reflections on the process with host Shawn Serre during Monday's episode of "One Pittsfield" on Pittsfield Community Television.

The city's 48-gallon toter system will roll out on Wednesday with the delivery of recycling containers for Friday routes and automated pickup begins two days later.

Pittsfield Municipal Airport Gets New Logo

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A new logo is ready for takeoff at the Pittsfield Municipal Airport.

The Airport Commission last week approved a cleaner design that depicts a jet flying over a green mountainscape. It is a far cry from the former branding, which had more than 10 saturated colors.

"Our current logo has probably 13 colors in it, which is difficult to do anything with.  It was formatted in a way that we really didn't have much control over how to use it," Airport Manager Daniel Shearer said.

"We were aiming for something that represented Pittsfield and Berkshire County."

Teams Sought for 25th Monument Cup

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Registration is ongoing for the 25th annual Monument Cup 3-on-3 youth soccer tournament.   The event will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29, at Monument Mountain Regional High School.   Teams of up to four players are eligible to compete in boys and girls divisions in the under-10, under-12 and under-14 age groups.   The registration fee is $100 per team, and all teams are guaranteed at least three matches with the top four teams in each division advancing to the semi-finals.   Space is limited. Pittsfield Councilor Requests Dept. of Public Services Restructuring

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mayor Peter Marchetti said his administration is working to improve the structure of the Department of Public Services and Utilities.

At the last City Council meeting, Ward 5 Councilor Patrick Kavey presented a petition requesting that Marchetti and Commissioner Ricardo Morales restructure the department.

Specifically, he would like to see the highway division and traffic division merged and update the standard operating procedures to streamline efficiency and improve outcomes in the city.
