By Bill Schmick,
03:57PM / Thursday, October 31, 2024
Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen. The odds favor Trump right now, but anything can happen in the topsy-turvey world of online betting. That's right, presidents have now entered the list of what Americans can bet on alongside sports games, horse races, and blackjack.   Last month, a federal District Court judge ruled that betting on election outcomes was neither unlawful nor considered gaming. The Commodities Futures Trading Commission had fought against this outcome claiming that this kind of betting could undermine confidence in elections and adversely affect election integrity. The ruling made election markets legal for the first time in 100 years.   That set off a rush

By Brittany Polito, iBerkshires Staff
05:23PM / Wednesday, October 30, 2024

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Traveling 40 mph down a section of Bailey Road is no longer permitted.

The Select Board on Monday voted to change the "questionable" 40 mph zone to a 35 mph speed limit.

Police Chief Robert Derksen came to the panel with the request, as there are currently three speed limits on the road.

It was hard to tell where the 35 mph and 40 mph speed zones were, he said, and there's a section that's 25 mph.

"From Route 7, there's a 25 mph zone and it also depends on what direction you're traveling so if you're traveling, I guess westbound towards Brody Mountain Road, it's 25, 35, and 40. At about Noppet Road is when it changes to

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Licensing Board feels the owners of Bei Tempi responded properly to an early October melee outside of the bar.

A show-cause hearing for the newly re-opened establishment's annual all-alcohol seven-day license was held on Monday. This came after police observed a 15 to 20-person incident outside the bar on Oct. 5.

"I thought we'd see you again but not so soon. The issue for me is I believe that you inherited a problematic location," board member Jon Lifvergren said, referencing the establishment's past as the Crossroads Cafe.

Owner Elizabeth Zucco said this is a completely different establishment than Zucco's Family Restaurant.
