Berkshires Get $60K in Cyber Security Grants

BRAINTREE, Mass. — The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced the award of nearly $7 million in federal grant funds to local governments and state agencies to enhance cybersecurity initiatives and reduce cyber risk for public agencies statewide.   The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority received $5,025, the town of Cheshire $13,224, and Monterey had the highest amount at $45,425.   "It's vital that our communities have access to the resources, tools, and guidance necessary to protect against increasingly frequent and sophisticated cybersecurity threats. Musical Mountain Day Returns to Bousquet

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mountain Day returns for its third year at Bousquet on Saturday.    Doors open at 1 p.m. for a lineup of performances, food and beer trucks, face painting, lawn games, and more. County Ambulance Recognized for Quality Cardiac, Stroke Care

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — County Ambulance Service received the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline EMS  Bronze achievement award for its commitment to offering rapid and research-based care to people experiencing the most severe form of heart attacks and strokes, ultimately saving lives.   Emergency medical services staff can begin treatment when they arrive — up to an hour sooner than if someone goes to the hospital by car. EMS staff are also trained to provide resuscitation efforts to someone whose heart has stopped. BMC Community Pharmacy Recognized for Quality Care

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire Community Pharmacy at Berkshire Medical Center has achieved accreditation by Accreditation Commission for Health Care, citing the quality of its Specialty Pharmacy Services.    Following a survey, ACHC noted that the pharmacy, located in the Warriner Building at BMC, "has demonstrated that it operates at a level of quality, integrity and effectiveness consistent with ACHC standards. Expanded Dalton Day Set for July 20

BCArc’s Golf Event Raises Funds for Individuals with Disabilities

Plan in Place to Address Condition of Dalton Home

DALTON, Mass. — A plan to address the dilapidated condition of the house at 27 Mountain View Terrace is coming together, the homeowner says during Wednesday's Board of Health Meeting.    Roberta Steele and her niece, Kathleen Winterstein, have been working to develop a plan to address the condition of the home since the last Board of Health meeting in June.    Two weeks ago, Health Agent Agnes Witkowski received a photo from a neighbor of a dead rat on their property.    Witkowski did an updated inspection and required that the owner of 27 Mountain View set traps.    She spoke to the owner of Action Pest Management, who suggested that Steele

Dalton Fire District Sees Potential in Former Dalton Garage

The building was a fire station back in the 1950s but cannot accommodate this era's larger fire trucks. Berkshire Harm Reduction Sets Open House at New Site

Pittsfield Working on Decades-Old Drainage Issue in Ward 3

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city is working to solve a more than 30-year-old drainage problem on Newell Street.

The Public Works and Utilities committee heard an update Monday on a project to address flooding at 9 Newell St. Water runoff reaching the drainage outlet behind the property is flooding it, unable to reach an intermittent stream meant to carry that runoff.

"This is the situation I inherited and I want to make sure that the residents and the families around that area can have this issue resolved. They've been told that it would have been done this year and it's a problem," Ward 3 Councilor Matthew Wrinn said.
