 PITTSFIELD, Mass.— The state will replace two structurally unsound bridges on South Street in a couple of years, possibly resulting in a brief closure of the main route. Last week, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation held a 25 percent design hearing for the $18.5 million project. It will replace deteriorating bridges that carry South Street over the Housatonic Railroad and Housatonic River. "Please keep in mind that the project we are presenting to you tonight is still in the design stage," Project Manager Harry Adolphe told a handful of community members.  CHARLEMONT, Mass – Lever worked with Northern Berkshire Habitat for Humanity to partner them with a local mill to provide wood for the four homes they plan to build in Williamstown. "We're working with them on subsidizing local lumber from Hall Tavern Farm specifically to be used in affordable housing projects," said Lever communications manager, Avril Levesque. Lever recently received a grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs to help support this project. The new location, 1685 West Housatonic Street, is just up the road from their former spot. The business is still owned by the Wojtkowski brothers. The name, website, and phone number were bought by United Rentals, prompting Pittsfield Lawn and Tractor to rename. "One of the owners has a niece that's in the advertising business out in Chicago, so she came up with name, logo, stuff like that. So that's where Western Mass Power Equipment came from. On June 12, Supervisor of Records Manza Arthur informed the district that Ward 1 Councilor Kenneth Warren's administrative appeal has been closed. It was determined that the Pittsfield Public Schools met its burden to withhold public records.
