'Last of the Braves' Graduate from Taconic High SchoolBy Brittany Polito, iBerkshires Staff

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The "last of the Braves" began their journey into adulthood on Sunday.
185 students received diplomas in front of family, friends, and district and city officials.
During the Star Spangled Banner, students enthusiastically sang "O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave" and Valedictorian Benjamin Ginsberg cited the school's 2022 name change in his address.
"Today, we graduate. We graduate as the last true Braves of Taconic High School," he said.
"We have persevered through much and have shown that with determination and a goal in mind, together we can achieve great things. Don't let this fire inside you

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Trails Team (MassTrails) announced the release of a new interactive Priority Trails Network vision map for current and future shared-use path projects throughout the Commonwealth. The map provides a centralized inventory of key rail trail projects that will help support an envisioned comprehensive statewide transportation trail network. The map specifically identifies approximately 320 miles of trails that have been constructed and are in use, 24 trails that are currently under construction, and another 60 miles of proposed paths that have been funded but not yet constructed. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Berkshire Community College (OLLI at BCC) invites clients of Second Street Second Chances to participate in a series of free guided hikes throughout the month of June. The hikes will take place in various locations throughout the Berkshires on Tuesdays, June 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 10:30 am to noon.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A majority of the finance subcommittee feels that a $15 million renovation on the former Berkshire West will be a benefit to the city. On Thursday, the councilors supported a 10-year tax increment financing agreement for Bousquet Sport that will save Mill Town Capital about $215,000 in real estate taxes over the period, starting at 100 percent in fiscal 2025 and decreasing to 10 percent by fiscal 2034.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Pittsfield High School class of 2023 will hear three graduate addresses at graduaton ceremonies being held on Sunday, June 4, at 4 p.m. The senior class has elected Lennox Silvestro-Dias Jr., Asa Chard and Daysha Bell to speak at graduation. These three students represent the voice of this year's senior class who have worked diligently through a challenging four years of high school. The ceremony will be held on the grounds of Pittsfield High School's 300 East St. campus.  DALTON, Mass. — Lucas A. Wildrick and Sheffield M. Drewry have been named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for the 2023 graduating class at Wahconah Regional High School. Both students will speak at graduation ceremonies on Sunday, June 4, at 1 p.m. in the school gymnasium.  Wheaton College shortstop Cavan Brady this week was selected all-America by the American Baseball Coaches Association and was named as the 2023 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Division III Player of the Year. The senior from Sheffield hit .405 with seven home runs and 77 RBIs in 51 games for the Lyons In his college career, he batted .375, the sixth-highest batting average in school history. Brady was a standout at Mount Everett and the Berkshire School during his prep career. This spring he led Wheaton to the NCAA Division III tournament. Headline inflation rose 0.4 percent last month but a look under the hood revealed that the "food at home index" declined. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Firefighters responded to a structure fire at the Wyandotte Mill complex and were able to contain the blaze to the auto body shop where the fire originated. On Thursday, June 1 at 8:28 pm, the Pittsfield Fire Department was dispatched to 20 Keeler Street for a reported structure fire. Engine 5, Engine 3, Engine 1, Truck 2, and Car 2 responded. Truck 2 was first on scene and reported heavy fire showing from multiple first floor windows. Car 2 initiated a double alarm assignment, bringing the remaining two engines (Engine 6 and Engine 2) to the scene.
