LENOX, Mass. — The former Annie Selke store on Main Street is now Home on Main, another home decor venture. "I had previously worked for seven years as on-site manager at Annie Selke and loved my job and got to know and develop relationships with a lot of the customers," said owner Marion Hayden. The Annie Selke store closed in October, and once Hayden saw how disappointed people were, she decided to start her own store. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire Community College (BCC) Players will present the musical "Lucky Stiff" by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty during the weekends of May 2 and May 9 at the Robert Boland Theatre. The production is directed by BCC alumnus Joseph Sicotte. "Lucky Stiff" is a musical farce about a British shoe salesman who inherits six million dollars with the condition that he takes his deceased uncle's body on a final trip to Monte Carlo. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The City of Pittsfield has announced scheduled street improvements from April 28 through May 2. From April 28 to April 30, structure lowering will occur on Daniels Avenue, Newell Street, and Meadow Lane. Milling is scheduled for Daniels Avenue on April 29, followed by the first course of paving on April 30. Milling will take place on Newell Street and Meadow Lane from May 1 to May 2. On-street parking will be prohibited on these streets between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. during the work periods. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city continues its more than 50-year run as a Community Development Block Grant entitlement community with a new five-year plan.
Earlier this week, the Office of Community Development released a draft of its Five-Year Consolidated Plan to address housing and other needs with Community Development Block Grant funds.
Covering July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2029, the plan proposes a $2.19 million budget in the first year that includes an estimated $1.25 million in federal CDBG funds. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Market 32 and Price Chopper customers at 129 stores across New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire raised $50,143.72 for Special Olympics through a checkout round-up campaign in February and March. Market 32 and Price Chopper contributed an additional $10,000, bringing the total donation to $60,143.72. The funds will benefit Special Olympics athletes in the six states where the stores operate. In March, over 30 athletes, partners, and coaches from these states participated in the 2025 Winter World Games in Turin, Italy, as part of Special Olympics USA, winning one gold, six silver, and 20 bronze medals. On Friday, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program held its annual recognition luncheon at the Proprietor's Lodge. This year's theme was bees, "Because like bees, who are champion pollinators, our volunteers are champions," Director Lisa Torrey explained.

The 10-month program, designed as a focus and influencer group, will include up to 20 Greylock members ages 11-22, currently in middle, high school, vocational, or college. Through monthly conversations, as well as in-person Greylock-themed events, participants will expand their awareness on financial literacy and serve as brand ambassadors. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The City of Pittsfield will begin phase two of its spring water system flushing on Monday, April 28, following the completion of phase one. Water mains citywide will be flushed through hydrants to remove pipeline corrosion products. Flushing will occur Monday through Friday each week, excluding holidays, between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Phase two is scheduled from April 28 to May 2. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A city man was arraigned Thursday on charges in relation to multiple break-ins and attempted break-ins of ATMs at TDB Bank. George Bliss, 39, of West Street was arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court on single counts of breaking into a bank depository, larceny under $1,200 and vandalizing property, and three counts each of attempting to break into a bank depository, attempted larceny and vandalizing property. The break-ins all occurred at the West Street branch of the bank on Feb. 15, March 1, March 4, April 1 and April 11.
