Taylor's July 4 Concert Tickets on Sale Jan. 29

LENOX, Mass. — James Taylor returns to Tanglewood with his All-Star Band for performances on Wednesday, July 3, and Thursday, July 4, at 8 p.m. in the Koussevitzky Music Shed.    This summer marks 50 years since Taylor first performed at Tanglewood on July 30, 1974. The two dates scheduled this July will bring the total number of Taylor's appearances on the Shed stage to 51, making him one of the most frequent Tanglewood guest performers of all time.    The July 4 concert will be followed by a fireworks display over Stockbridge Bowl. Berkshire Museum Announces STEAM Programs for Preschool-Age Children

Berkshire Organizations, Schools Awarded Mass Cultural Council Grants

Dalton Traffic Commission Comments on Dalton Division Designs

DALTON, Mass. —  The Traffic Commission weighed in last week on the preliminary design options for Dalton Division Road that were presented last month.   The commission's discussion focused on the sewer line, sidewalks, and intersection of Williams Street, Washington Mountain Road and Mountain Road.    Some commissioners felt that installing a sewer line on the Dalton side and not include the city if Pittsfield is "silly" because of the cost of the cost and future ramifications it could have.    "It seems rather silly to me to put a line down the Dalton side of the road and not include the city of Pittsfield in that same area,"

Pittsfield Councilor Presses for Road Repairs

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Roadwork remains a hot topic in the City Council's new term.

The council took up a petition last week from Councilor at Large Earl Persip III seeking an update from Commissioner of Public Utilities Ricardo Morales on a road patch at 181 Elm St. Persip requested that the patch be fixed last year, as it extends into the center of the lane and is not level.

"I gotta explain why I'm dwelling in on these patches — because they're causing the residents, the taxpayers more money in the long run," the councilor said.

Governor Launches Climate Science Advisory Panel

State Announce Consensus Revenue Forecast for Fiscal Year 2025

BOSTON – Secretary of Administration and Finance Matthew J. Gorzkowicz, Senate Ways and Means Chair Michael J. Rodrigues and House Ways and Means Chair Aaron Michlewitz agreed on a consensus revenue forecast for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) of $40.202 billion.   Secretary Gorzkowicz also announced a decrease of $1 billion to the FY24 state tax revenue estimate to $39.410 billion, based on current year-to-date revenues and economic data. The new FY25 consensus revenue estimate of $40.202 billion represents $208 million less in available revenue than what was used to build the FY24 budget, and a 2 percent increase above revised FY24 estimates, excluding surtax.   The agreement also

Dalton Considers Allowing 'Green' Burials

DALTON, Mass. — Residents may have the option of so-called "green" burials in the future.    Also referred to as "natural burials," green burials are a way of returning bodies to the earth after death without a metal casket, burial liner or vault, or embalming, according to the nonprofit Green Burial Massachusetts.    The cemetery trustees are still very early on in the process of establishing green burials. There are a lot of unknowns surrounding the service they need to explore first, the trustees said.
