Roosa Leads Field of 100s at High Lawn FarmiBerkshires.com Sports,

 LEE, Mass. -- Lee's Maguire Roosa and Glendale's Morgan Windram-Geddes were the top finishers Sunday at the High Lawn Farm Keep Moo’ving 5K. The event was held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the family-owned dairy farm and as a benefit for Berkshire Bounty, a food rescue organization that serves emergency food distribution programs county-wide. Roosa hit the finish line in 19 minutes, 30.45 seconds, a 6:16 mile pace, to edge runner-up Pat McNaughton (19:31.87) by just more than a second.  DALTON, Mass. — The Community Recreation Association is kicking off its countdown to its 100th anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 5, with a birthday party on the lawn. The organization has been an integral part of the community since 1916 but its first brick and mortar building was constructed in 1922 with funds willed by W. Murray Crane. The association opened where it stands today, 400 Main St., on Nov. 9, 1923. CRA officials wanted to celebrate the centennial outdoors on the memorial lawn so did not want to wait until November for a ceremony. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter has announced its closing after housing the community’s stray animals for many years.
On Saturday, the no-kill shelter’s board members announced the news on social media. They are looking at Aug. 31 as an official closing date.
“It is with a heavy heart that the Board of Directors of the Friends of Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter is announcing that we have made the decision to close the facility,” the post read.

DALTON, Mass. — The delivery of the Fire District's new ladder truck has been delayed again and is now expected to be delivered by August. While being refurbished at Northern Fire Equipment, it was determined that the truck's Detroit Diesel ECM, which controls the fuel injection, is "shot," interim Fire Chief Robert Czerwinski said. The replacement part costs $2,700, but will be covered by Northern Fire Equipment. Northern Fire Equipment Vice President Michael Burke has also agreed to add a USB-A/USB-C outlet to the dashboard at no charge, Czerwinski said. BOSTON – Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Rebecca Tepper declared drought conditions return to normal following above-normal rainfall for the month of June. All seven regions are at a Level 0-Normal Conditions, including the Western and Cape Cod Regions, which were previously declared at a Level-1 Mild Drought.
