After two years of monetary tightening, the Federal Reserve Bank is poised to begin loosening its policy. Is the event already priced in or will the stock market celebrate with new highs? It may depend on how deep a cut the Fed is willing to make. In my opinion, in the long run it won't matter unless you are one of those day-to-day options traders who live or die based on the next trade. Nonetheless, in a market that may well hit a new high next week, what the Fed does and how it talks about future cuts will be important. Mayor Peter Marchetti speaks at the opening on Thursday. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Downtown Pittsfield Inc. cut the ribbon on its new home in the heart of North Street on Thursday morning.
The nonprofit membership organization moved earlier this summer and Managing Director Rebecca Brien said the best part is the number of people who stop in at 431 North St., which is sandwiched between myriad downtown activities. It is a place where DPI sees expansion and evolution happening.
"Our neighbors in this block have been phenomenal," Brien said.
"Many people are stopping in and saying 'Hello' so it really it's exciting and now with the addition of the meeting

DALTON, Mass. — The Green Committee has voted to use the Metropolitan Area Planning Council Greenhouse Gas Inventory Platform. At its August meeting, the board was presented with three options: ClearPath, an MAPC model, and an in-house Excel model. After reviewing each platform, the committee selected the MAPC model because of its consistency and comparability with the state, user-friendliness, and sources included.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The $14.6 million redevelopment of East Street has gotten a boost from redistribution funds.
Last week, the Healey-Driscoll administration announced the state Department of Transportation had received an additional $171 million in funding from the Federal Highway Administration as part of the annual funding redistribution process. "These redistribution funds represent federal transportation funds that were unable to be used for programs in various states to which they were originally allocated," a press release explains.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The new residential curbside trash and recycling rollout has launched. The City of Pittsfield announces an updated schedule of delivery for the new toters for residents to receive them in time for the first pickup. There are approximately 3,500 toters being delivered for each collection route. Casella will begin delivering toters for each route earlier than expected. For each route going forward, delivery of toters will begin four business days prior to the start of the pickup. BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) today announced $140,126 in microgrants awarded to organizations, municipalities and academic institutions focused on reducing waste generation and prolonging the lifespan of products by offering donation, rescue, reuse and repair services across the state. In Berkshire County Berkshire Environmental Action Team was awarded $9,440 and Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires and Southern Vermont, Inc. was awarded $9,625. WAMC is reporting that the company, Fresh American LLC, filed its intention to close last week with the state, as required by law.
