 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires and Southern Vermont announced the promotions of Karen Harrington to director of retail operations, northern territory, and Mary Killeen to the position of director of finance. Harrington is the manager of Goodwill's retail store in Bennington, Vermont, a position she has held since 2015. She oversees operations at Goodwill's store in North Adams and Rutland and is a member of the team working on the July reopening of Goodwill's flagship store in Pittsfield.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mayor Linda Tyer has announced the last of the city's American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) community awards to 19 organizations totaling $2.9 million. "When Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act, it emphasized the importance of investing in post-pandemic recovery, especially for people who had been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic," Tyer explained at a press conference in the council chambers on Wednesday.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Allendale Pines plans to expand the mobile home park with more than 20 additional lots. This addition will separate the parks into AP South and the new AP North.
The Mobile Home Rent Control Board on Monday OK'd the plan contingent on approval from the Conservation Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals.
"In summary, this project would provide 21 additional financially attainable lots and homes for Pittsfield," Attorney Jeffrey Scrimo said on behalf of owner Eagle Allendale.
"This would be an expansion of the existing Allendale Pines community, but it was served by a separate entrance and separate utilities."

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Two Berkshire County Arc (BC Arc) staff members were awarded statewide honors. BC Arc Family Advocate Chris Ferrari was inducted into the Special Olympics Mass. Hall of Fame Class of 2022 on June 22, 2022. She is the first BC Arc employee to receive the honor. BC Arc's Rachel Nicola-Jefferson was honored with the ANCOR Direct Support Professional of the Year Award for Massachusetts, chosen among 300 nominees. PITTSFIELD, Mass.— Berkshire Medical Center announced there will be limited public access to its two parking garages during the events occurring in Pittsfield on July 4th and that some roadway access to the medical center will be closed by law enforcement during the Pittsfield Fourth of July Parade. During the parade, the hospital's employee parking garage will be open to the public, but it will be closed that evening and unavailable for public parking to view the laser light show at Wahconah Park.  DALTON, Mass. — The Select Board honored Emergency Management Director Daniel Filiault for his 42 years of service during their meeting on Monday night. The former police chief has resigned from all appointed positions including the emergency management department and Traffic Commission so that he can retire and spend more time with his family and pursue other interests. Filiault had continued to be an active volunteer in the town's operations since his retirement in 2004 after 11 years leading the Police Department.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The City Council got a second chance to vote on its fiscal 2023 budget recommendations after a charter objection by Ward 2 Councilor Charles Kronick halted the discussion at its last meeting. The $116,000 in recommended increases were sent to Mayor Linda Tyer on Tuesday in a 7-4 vote with Councilor at Large Karen Kalinowsky, Ward 1 Councilor Kenneth Warren, Kronick, and Ward 7 Councilor Anthony Maffuccio opposing. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Despite pushback from neighbors, the Licensing Board on Monday approved a liquor license transfer from a long-shuttered restaurant to Camp Arrow Wood located on Cloverdale Street. The unanimous vote changed the location, manager, and management/operating agreement from The Elbow Room to the camp, which is a venture of Mill Town Capital. The Elbow Room has been closed for about five years.
It was approved in October 2021 but was kicked back by the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission because the transfer also required a change of location and public notice to abutters, which was provided in mid-June.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Line painting is now scheduled for North Street in downtown Pittsfield beginning Tuesday, June 28, through Thursday, June 30. The work will begin by Park Square and continue up to Berkshire Medical Center. The change is due to an equipment issue. The painting will also include bike lanes, parking spaces, and stencil symbols. As painting will occur in the evenings, parking restrictions will be in effect starting at 8 p.m. each night through 6 a.m. the following morning for the duration of the work.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — An automated external defibrillator, or AED, will be installed at the Doyle Softball Complex on Benedict Road thanks to a donation from the KEVS Foundation. The Parks Commission received the lifesaving device last Tuesday after it was offered to the city several months ago. An AED is used to treat cardiac arrest by sending an electric shock to the heart and restoring a normal rhythm. "Several months ago, the KEVS Foundation reached out to the city and offered the donation of an AED unit. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city of Pittsfield will conduct smoke and dye testing in the months ahead to help detect illegal inflow connections to sanitary sewer systems, which can lead to costly repairs for the taxpayer. In advance of this work the city is embarking on an educational campaign to build awareness around the detrimental impacts of inflow.
