Pittsfield Council OKs Car Wash at Former Dakota Steakhouse

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — After much debate and some alterations, the City Council approved a special permit for a car wash at the former Dakota Steakhouse.

Lipton, Inc. plans to build a "tunnel" type 4,200 square foot facility that can wash up to 150 cars per hour. The site, located at 1035 South St., housed the well-known steakhouse until about a decade ago and was most recently occupied by Enso Bistro.

After more than 90 minutes of discussion last week, the council attached two conditions to its support: that the northern exit be a right turn only subject to approval from the Massachusetts

Dalton Fire District Works to Improve Website

MountainOne to Launch Children's Book Featuring Mo the Spokesgoat

Air Quality Analysis Required for State Permits Near Certain Populations

BOSTON — The Healey-Driscoll administration moved to address air quality issues in or near environmental justice areas by announcing amendments to state air pollution regulations.

Governor Appoints Interim Chair of Gaming Commission

Dalton Green Committee Aims to Obtain Data for Town Solar PV Arrays

DALTON, MASS. — The Green Committee is working to obtain information from Eversource to inform the possibility of developing solar polar photovoltaic arrays in town.    The committee approved using $250 during its meeting last week for a pre-application to Eversource. Berkshire County Historical Mark Centennial of 'Billy Budd, Sailor'

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire County Historical Society will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the publication of Herman Melville's "Billy Budd, Sailor" with a series of events and programs throughout 2024.   According to a press release, the novella was written during the last five years of Melville's life, but remained unknown until 1918 when Melville's first biographer Raymond M. Weaver was shown the handwritten manuscript by Melville's granddaughter, Eleanor Melville Metcalf. Pittsfield School Officials Dig Into 'Not Ideal' FY25 Budget
