PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Board of Health has voted to rescind its cease and desist order on the Verizon cell tower at 877 South St. after the telecommunications company filed a case against the city of Pittsfield in federal court. Chair Bobbie Orsi said litigation is not the solution right now. Instead, the panel will pursue collaborative discussions to address the issue. "When we issued the cease and desist order, we did that as a strategy to have a conversation with Verizon, I felt like that in our heart, in my heart, we really wanted them to come talk to us about this," she said at Wednesday's meeting. Man Sentenced To 30 Years in Prison for Carnevale Shooting 02:52PM / Wednesday, June 01, 2022 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Judge Maureen Hogan sentenced Luis Delvalle-Rodriguez to serve 25 to 30 years in state prison and five years of probation afterward for shooting Nicholas Carnevale on Aug. 21, 2018 at a party at the Ashley Reservoir on October Mountain. The councilors recommended that $1,000 be added to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program's $106,000 budget for volunteer recognition night, a motion that was made by Ward 2 Councilor Charles Kronick. The proposed municipal operating budget is $99,900,752 and the proposed public school budget is $72,398,262, totaling a municipal operating budget of $172,299,014. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Regional Transit Authority expects to see a $9 million spending plan next fiscal year, an increase of $365,000 from the previous year. On Thursday, the Advisory Board approved a draft FY23 budget of $9,011,963.75 during an in-person meeting at the transit authority. The budget also had a review from the Finance Committee earlier in the week. It includes an anticipated $25,601 increase in local grants, a $561,886 increase in federal grants, and a $281,103 decrease in state grants.
