PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Berkshire Health Systems 4th of July 5K start time has been moved to 9 a.m., the Berkshire Running Center announced on social media on Saturday. The organizer of the annual road race said that the time was changed by half an hour in order to accommodate parade road closures. On Sunday morning, the center said that 904 runners were signed up for the 5-kilometer race through downtown Pittsfield, including runners from five different countries and 22 states. PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Berkshire Force 12-and-under travel softball team Sunday rallied for five runs in the top of the sixth inning but could not eclipse the Stamford, Conn., Stars in a 14-8 game to decide the championship of the Babe Ruth New England Regional. Stamford took advantage of eight Force errors and pulled away late with five runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth to secure the regional title. Wahconah Regional High School graduate and UMass Boston sophomore Aryianna Garceau earned all-America honors in the 100-meter hurdles at May's NCAA Division III Championships. Garceau took sixth in the finals with a time of 14.05 seconds after qualifying for the finals with a time of 13.97, which broke a 35-year school record. In earning all-America honors, Garceau became the 20th Beacon to achieve that honor and the first since 2018.
