NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Brayden Gutzmer had four hits, including a double and a triple, to help lead the Pittsfield Thunder 14-year-old travel baseball team to a double-header sweep of the Berkshire Americans on Sunday at Joe Wolfe field. In the opener, Gutzmer had two extra-base hits, and Antonio Scalise tripled and scored twice. Nick Brindle had two hits and a walk in an 11-0 win. BOSTON, Mass. -- Football remains a “higher risk” sport that is restricted to non-contact drills and “individual skill work” under the latest guidance from the commonwealth released on Friday. The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs Friday released its updated rules for amateur sports activities. The rules released on Friday specifically do not govern interscholastic athletics, but the same office will be determining the “rules for the road” for high school sports in conjunction with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. With Babe Ruth Baseball's state and national tournament competitions canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program is competing in the Eastern New York Baseball League. PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Hunter Potash went 2-for-3 with a double at the plate and pitched two innings of scoreless relief to earn the win on the mound Thursday as B.B.A. edged Different Breed, 4-3, in the Berkshire Adult Baseball League. Potash reached on an infield single and ended up scoring on a two-base error in the top of the sixth to break a 3-3 tie. He then stranded the potential tying run at first to complete two innings of one-hit relief and help his team stay unbeaten at 3-0 this summer in the league’s 20-and-over division. DALTON, Mass. -- Baseball in the Berkshires is opening its newest exhibit, “Take Me Out To The Ball Game,” in the Gallery at the Stationery Factory on Monday. The exhibit will be open from July 20 through Sunday, Sept. 20. Weekday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with weekend hours to be announced at a later date.
