Lanesborough Police Investigating Armed RobberyStaff Reports, 03:35PM / Wednesday, January 03, 2024 | | LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — A Good Samaritan was robbed — possibly at gunpoint — when he stopped to help what he thought were stranded motorists on Route 7 on Wednesday morning. The victim was traveling south on Route 7 at about 6 a.m. when he stopped near the New Ashford town line to check what appeared to be a disabled motor vehicle on the right shoulder of the roadway. As he approached the vehicle, the driver exited and he was approached by another man and felt what he believed to be a gun pressed against his head, according to the police report. The Human Services Advisory Council is an 11-member advisory committee that provides funding recommendations to the mayor on how the city should allocate its human services funding. The panel recently dipped its toes into possibilities for cost savings that include different materials and reducing add-ons that are not essential. Pittsfield Pedestrians Seriously Injured10:23AM / Monday, January 01, 2024 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Two pedestrians were seriously injured in the early hours of Monday morning after being struck by a motor vehicle. According to police, Shannon Steffey, 34, and Matthew Squires, 32, both of Pittsfield, were crossing West Housatonic Street near the 50 block when they were struck by an eastbound 2014 Toyota Corolla driven by 23-year-old Nicholas Ainsley of Pittsfield. Both Steffey and Squires were take to Berkshire Medical Center with what police described as serious injuries; Steffey was later transferred to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield in critical condition. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Affordable Housing Trust will offer its expertise for Community Preservation Act applications related to housing. The panel agreed at its December meeting that it would make recommendations or designate CPA funds for these types of projects.
