"Looking at the survey results and people I’ve spoken to, people want this," Chair Earl Persip III said to the Wahconah Park Restoration Committee on Thursday.

"The community wants this and so when it comes down to it and we understand how much we can borrow right from the

By Wayne Soares, Special to iBerkshires
04:46PM / Sunday, November 12, 2023
EAST FALMOUTH, Mass. — I had another wonderful opportunity to interview a member of The Greatest Generation.    Robert Mercurio served his country in the Navy as a radioman, first class, from 1942 to 1946. He would also serve four years in the Reserves, being discharged in 1950.    At 99 years of age, he possesses a fantastic memory of events and a super personality.   Growing up in Everett, he played on the high school football team. "Everett always had good football teams ... I was only 126 pounds and played with some pretty big guys," he said with a chuckle.    Mercurio would do his basic training at Great Lakes,

PITTSFIELD, Mass. —  A man who came to argue with protesters on Thursday for calling for a ceasefire in Gaza left with a better understanding of their position.    "That guy came basically supporting Israel, and saying that Israelis have a right to defend themselves, and basically supporting the American policy position. By the end of that conversation. He was saying, war is not the answer," one of the organizers, Tamir Novotny, said.    Novotny told the man that a stop to the war starts with the United States government calling for a ceasefire.    "He was more aligned with us than he realized when he first came," Novotny

Davine. "Be sure you're heating your home safely.
