Investors were treated with good news on a variety of fronts as October closed and we enter the November-December seasonal period. Both the U.S. Treasury and the Federal Reserve Bank should be credited with most of the positive developments that sent bond prices higher and yields lower. Since September, I was convinced that if bond yields continued to rise, stocks would fall. Last week, however, I advised investors that we were nearing the end of this trend, and "I expect a rebound to begin in November if not sooner." PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The human remains found at Wahconah Park last month have been identified as 43-year-old Luis Lopez-Lopez but the cause of death is still pending. Lopez-Lopez's remains had been found by a city worker who was cutting brush on the property. "The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner's Office accepted the case. On Friday October 27 the ME's office notified PPD that the remains were positively identified as 43 year old Luis Lopez-Lopez," the Pittsfield Police Department wrote in a press release.  DALTON, Mass. — For the last century, the Dalton CRA has been trying to make lives healthier and better for town residents. But just in case it missed anyone, the venerable recreation center is throwing open its doors next Thursday as part of a weeklong celebration of the CRA's 100th anniversary. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Pittsfield Hub is said to be effective for both the people it treats and service providers.
Established last year, it is a pooling of social services and police that meet virtually every other week to review cases of mental illness, substance abuse, poverty, and other issues that plague the area.
Sgt. Lindsey Maynard of the Berkshire County Sheriff's Office has been running the program for about a year and said that when used correctly it is an effective tool. She gave a presentation of the program to the Homelessness Advisory Committee at its Wednesday morning meeting.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The District Attorney's office reported that in two separate cases, two men allegedly attempted to entice children in North Adams. On Oct. 25, James Wojtkowski, 82 of Pittsfield, was arraigned in Berkshire Superior Court. Wojtkowski was charged with: Dissemination of Matter Harmful to a Minor Enticing a Child Under 16. According to a report, between April 29 and 30, 2023, Wojtkowski allegedly contacted a 14-year-old girl living in North Adams through Facebook.
