DALTON, Mass. — Work on the Pines accessibility trail continues, with hopes that it will be completed within the next several weeks. Since the last correspondence with Greenagers Conservation Director Elia DelMolino, work was anticipated to continue on Monday, Open Space and Recreation Committee Chair Brandon Quail said last week. The trailhead, located behind the Senior Center, is a hidden gem in the area that needs to be protected, and more people should know about it, committee members previously said. Work on making the Pines trail more usable and accessible began last year. The town's owned the property for about seven years. The project 0 Comments Read More >> |

Letter: Raising Age for Nicotine Access Save LivesLetter to the Editor, 12:30PM / Monday, July 07, 2025
To the Editor: Nicotine Free Generation (NFG) is a statewide proposal to very, very slowly raise the age that licensed nicotine dealers are permitted to sell to young people. For example, a town might change the minimum age from 21 to "those born before January 1, 2026." My own town successfully adopted NFG in December. Over 500,000 Massachusetts residents already live in NFG municipalities. I spoke last week in support of NFG, and pointed out the seamless implementation in my community. My 14-year-old grandson said about one-third of his peers smoke or vape or suck on addictive nicotine pouches. For all of them, their distribution is illegal. Widespread breaking of the law is

Letter: In Response to: Dalton Finance Committee — Thank youLetter to the Editor, 12:15PM / Monday, July 07, 2025

Her comment that a Request for Information is a form of harassment is outlandish and an insult to open government. I assume I am one of the requestors who is "harassing" the Finance Committee by using the state law of public records to receive information from a committee which is not transparent. As the public reads this letter, know that the Finance Committee members use their personal email accounts for committee and town
