 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — After announcing the sale of Dottie's Coffee Lounge, owner Jessica Rufo spoke about her reasoning behind it. "I just decided that I couldn't and didn't have to do it anymore. My real focus right now is where I want to prioritize my time and energy is just with my kids. My oldest daughter is 14, and I just don't want to miss any more time with her," she said. "I have two other children who are younger, and I'm recently divorced, and so there are also a lot of complications with trying to manage running a business this size and be the mom that I need and want to be without any help.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Pittsfield’s Abigail Geurds was the fastest female finisher in the 4th of July 5K on Friday morning. Geurds covered the 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) course in 17 minutes, 51 seconds to place 26th overall. The race saw 1,141 competitors finish the out-and-back course from Wahconah Street south to the intersection of South Street and West Housatonic and back to Wahconah Park. The top finisher overall was Steve Dowsett of Newburyport, who ran a time of 15:12 to finish three seconds ahead of runner-up Alex White of Dalton. Froio Senior Center announced it has been awarded an AARP Community Challenge Capacity-Building Microgrant in Disaster Preparedness, made possible through funding from AARP and SBP, a national disaster resilience and recovery nonprofit.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city is looking to codify a flag display policy that sets boundaries while allowing for municipal government speech.
Under the proposed ordinance, Pride and Juneteenth flags are safe.
On Monday, the Ordinances and Rules subcommittee supported guidelines that allow Pittsfield's flag, the United States and commonwealth flags, flags of other nations recognized by the U.S. government, and flags commemorating significant events or causes consistent with the city's values and mission.

The Summer Playground Program is a free, six-week-long program held at Clapp Park, Durant Park and The Common which offers a wide range of recreation activities to Pittsfield children between the ages of 6 to 13.
