 PITTSFIELD , Mass. — Hector Reyes-Colon drove in four runs Wednesday to lead the Pittsfield 10-year-old All-Stars to their third run-rule win in pool play in the Don Gleason District 1 Little League Tournament. The victory sends Pittsfield (3-0) into the best-of-three championship series that gets underway on Saturday afternoon when Great Barrington visits Deming Park. Great Barrington (2-1) advanced with a 14-13 win over Adams-Cheshire on Wednesday. Pittsfield came into the game with an extreme amount of energy bursts against Dalton-Hinsdale (1-2).  PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Mason Blackwell Wednesday singled to the right side with two out in the bottom of the sixth inning to drive in a pair of runs and give the Great Barrington Little League 10-year-old All-Stars a 14-13, walkoff win over Adams-Cheshire in the Don Gleason District 1 Tournament on Myron Gray Field. The victory clinched a spot for Great Barrington (2-1) in the championship round of the tournament.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Historical Commission welcomed the new city planner and approved the demolition of a Fenn Street home formerly owned by a well-loved volunteer.
Haddad dealerships purchased the property from Robert Presutti's family after he died in 2023 and plans to demolish it for further parking and vehicle storage.
"The idea is to renovate the Haddad Hyundai dealership building at 689 East St. and as part of that renovation, they're proposing the demolition of a two-story house that is sort of situated on a small lot that they own between two others used for the dealerships," civil engineer Bryan Siter explained.

 DALTON, Mass. — The Fire District is considering re-engaging the prospect of purchasing the former Dalton Garage, located at 385 Main St. The district considered purchasing the building in 2022 because the fire station, located at 20 Flansburg Ave., is too small for its needs, especially with the addition of the ambulance service. However, the prospect was not fully explored and was pushed aside. The idea was brought up again during the Fire District community meeting last week, and Thomas Irwin, a member of the town's Finance Committee, presented it to the Board of Water Commissioners during its Tuesday meeting.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — For William "Bill" Sturgeon, being the grand marshal of the historic Fourth of July parade "means everything." Meanwhile, it's a bittersweet time for Mayor Peter Marchetti, who's stepping down as parade leader after more than two decades.
During Pittsfield Community Television's "Parade in Preview" program, it was revealed that Sturgeon didn't believe Marchetti when he first got the call. He initially said, "yeah right" in disbelief.
"It means everything," he said. "I remember the only time I missed the parade, I didn't live here. I never missed it. If it snowed I'd be there.

DALTON, Mass. — The Central Berkshire Regional School Committee agreed to start an education campaign after the proposed regional agreement failed in three of the district's seven towns. The item failed during the Hinsdale annual town meeting on May 15, the Peru town meeting on June 1, and Cummington's special town meeting on June 7. The regional agreement needed six out of the seven towns to vote in favor of passing. Until an updated agreement is approved, the school district will continue to operate under its current agreement and follow state law.
