Pittsfield Man Pleads Guilty to Drug, Gun Charges and OUIStaff Reports ,

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — On Tuesday, April 4 Michael Rahilly, 35 of Pittsfield, pleaded guilty on a District Attorney complaint. Rahilly was charged with OUI Drugs; Possession With Intent to Distribute – Class A; Possession of Large Capacity firearm, Possession of Class B.; and Possession of a Firearm in Felony. Judge Flannery sentenced Rahilly to 2.5 to 3 years prison on illegal possession of a firearm and a large capacity feeding device. Additionally, he will be on probation for 2 years on and after on 3 drug charges and OUI drugs with conditions that he step down to a residential substance abuse treatment program when released then to 0 Comments

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Two years ago the city adopted a Downtown Creative District for the North Street corridor. Now, planners would like to define what that means aesthetically.
On Tuesday, the Community Development Board got a first look at the proposed design guidelines and a parking table for the district. The board aims to provide clarity in the design process for developments or renovations within bounds.
"I thought the document was really thorough and ultimately is going to achieve that objective that we set out to achieve," board member Gary Levante said.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city had more than 200 homeless individuals in January, a number that has increased steadily for two years.
On Wednesday, the Homelessness Advisory Committee was presented with data from the point-in-time (PIT) count, which is a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January.
There were at least 221 homeless people on Jan. 25: 180 in shelters, 31 unsheltered, and 10 who were couch surfing or in other temporary shelters.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mayor Linda Tyer announced the appointment of Thomas C. Dawley, II as the Interim Chief of Police for the Pittsfield Police Department (PPD). "I am so honored that Captain Dawley accepted this interim appointment and I am confident that he will successfully lead the Pittsfield Police Department through its transition," said Mayor Tyer. Dawley has served as a member of the PPD since November of 2002 and currently serves as the Detective Bureau Captain.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Parks Commission has endorsed a designer for Wahconah Park's revitalization.
During a special meeting on Wednesday, the panel voted to hire S3 Design Inc. of Braintree for the restoration or rebuild of Pittsfield's historic baseball park. The owner's project manager will now negotiate a scope of work and price proposal before a contract is signed.
A subcommittee tasked with designer selection unanimously voted to recommend the firm last week after a request for proposals generated four responses.
"They stood out significantly from the others in a couple of ways," Commissioner Anthony DeMartino said.

DALTON, Mass. — The Historical Commission wants to find a location to display its artifacts and documents for the community. The commission has a wide range of items that it has obtained over the years, including sports memorabilia, a World War 1 uniform, government documents, pictures, and more.
