Owner of Abandoned Cats Pleads Guilty to Animal CrueltyStaff Reports,

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A woman accused of abandoning more than a dozen cats during snowstorm a year ago has pleaded guilty. Kelly Hathaway of Pittsfield pleaded guilty on Friday to two counts of animal cruelty in Central Berkshire District Court as part of a plea agreement. Following the plea agreement, she was ordered to have a mental health evaluation and follow any after care as instructed by the court. She was placed on two years probation and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service. She is not allowed to possess any animals and was ordered to surrender any she has in her care.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Councilor at Large Karen Kalinowsky wants to query residents on the downtown's reconfiguration using the 2023 ballot. The City Council on Tuesday supported her petition to place a question on the Nov. 7 general election ballot to return North Street to four lanes of traffic with turn lanes. It will be referred to the city solicitor for revisions and returned to the council at its next meeting. "I know this is my second petition, the last one went to the mayor," Kalinowsky said.  The economy grew faster than most expected in the fourth quarter. Unemployment continues to remain tame and corporate earnings, while not stellar, have been good enough to support financial markets this week. Good news on the economy has been bad news for the stock market at least since the Fed has been tightening interest rates. The reasoning has been that stronger growth and employment would feed the inflation rate forcing even further tightening by the U.S. central bank and ultimately choking off the economy. The event raises funds to provide stipends to local Black, immigrant and other students of color who pursuing higher education. DALTON, Mass. — The Central Berkshire Regional School District is working on improving the general public's accessibility to the Diversity Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Steering Committee's resources for the.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Pittsfield Community Television has received funding from the Pittsfield Commission on Disabilities to add closed captions to many local programs broadcast on PCTV's channels. The service will allow hearing-impaired viewers to follow along with the content of the programming by reading text on the screen. On Jan. 12, the commission voted to allocate $1,850 to help the organization provide closed captioning for all city meetings for the year. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Department of Public Works has been under fire the last few weeks by residents on social media expressing their frustrations on recent snowplowing efforts including property damage and a snowplow accident. Following the snowstorm on Monday, iconic pizza place East Side Cafe at 378 Newell St. blamed its smashed front window on rocks and debris tossed up by a speeding city plow.
