Berkshire Force 12U Softball Beats Philly Club

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Daisy Caron struck out six in a complete-game, four-inning effort Sunday as the Berkshire Force 12-and-under travel softball team beat Philadelphia’s EOM Angels, 7-2, in the Youth Softball Nationals.   Victoria Blanchard went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead a nine-hit attack for the Force, which picked up its first win at the tournament.   The Berkshire 12Us jumped on top right away with a four-run first inning.   Stella Matthews hit a line drive single to center field in the rally.   The Force went up 7-1 with a pair of runs in the third, when Josie Schilling hit an RBI single.   The Force started its Sunday with a 10-1 loss to the

Post 68-2 Knocks Off Greenfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Gavin Maffuccio went 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs Sunday to lead the Pittsfield Post 68-2 American Legion Baseball team to an 8-3 win over Greenfield Post 81.   Aidan Underdown and Derek Roy each doubled in an eight-hit attack for Post 68-2, which also worked eight walks.   Cam Hillard earned the win on the mound, striking out five and allowing one earned run in 5 and two-thirds innings of work.   Jason Field and Dylan Turner combined on 1 and 1 and a third innings of scoreless relief.   Post 68-2 (2-5) is at Longmeadow on Wednesday.

Reds edged the Berkshire Force 14-and-under travel softball team, 3-1, on Sunday.   Giannah Moses went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Force, which got a double from Lilly MacDonald.   Julia McComish went the distance in the circle, striking out four and allowing two earned runs in six innings of work.

Post 68-1 Senior Legion Team Walks Off Win Against Sheffield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Dominic Marcella drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh Sunday to give the Pittsfield Post 68-1 American Legion Baseball team a 7-6 win over Sheffield Post 340.   Ben Jacob started the winning rally with a single to right, and Gavin O’Donnell singled to left to put runners at the corners.   Sheffield opted to intentionally walk Jack Abel (1-for-3, triple, three RBIs), bringing Marcella to the plate with a chance to end it.   Post 68 rallied for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to erase a 5-0 deficit and take a one-run lead.   Sheffield tied it in the top of the sixth when Christian Blanchard singled to drive in Parker

Dalton Historical Invests in Museum Collection Management Software

DALTON, Mass. — The Historical Commission has approved the purchase of a museum collection management software, PastPerfect.    During its meeting in May, commissioners voted to purchase the a desktop version of the software for $870.   It was highlighted that if they join the American Association for State and Local History, which has a membership fee of $100, the software cost would be discounted to $696.    In addition to the discount, the association will give them access to the association's resources, including free online access to the encyclopedia of local history, discounts to several professional development webinars, online courses, software,

New CBRSD Leadership Emphasizes Community

Burega Pitches Legion Team to Win over City Rival

Force 12U Opens Play at National Tourney

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Berkshire Force 12-and-under travel softball team Saturday opened play at the Youth Softball Nationals with a pair of losses.   The Sandy Springs Storm of Georgia beat the Force, 9-1, in their opener.   In the Berkshire squad’s second game in pool play, it fell to the Monroeville Gators of Pennsylvania, 9-0.   Layla Soules doubled to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning and scored on a Victoria Blanchard triple against Sandy Springs.   The Force (0-2) is scheduled to play twice on Sunday, starting with a game against the Pittsburgh Spirit at 2 p.m.
