MassDOT High School Roadway Safety Public Service Contest

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), in collaboration with global nonprofit Fundación MAPFRE, is announced the launch of a new roadway safety public service contest for Massachusetts high school students.    The contest, which is part of MAPFRE's Look Both Ways Program, seeks to help students raise awareness with their peers and underscore the importance of being safe while driving on roadways across the Commonwealth. BEAT Green Drinks Goes Countywide

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — After nearly 15 years of hosting their monthly Pittsfield Green Drinks gathering, Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) is expanding their Green Drinks from Pittsfield to county-wide, making it 'Berkshire Green Drinks'.   Before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pittsfield Green Drinks took place exclusively at a restaurant or pub in Pittsfield. Starting in 2023, BEAT will begin changing the location of their in-person gatherings to different towns throughout Berkshire County every month.    They're also changing the monthly events to the second Wednesday of every month instead of the third Tuesday.   BEAT hopes to offer

Healey and Driscoll to Conduct Search for Next MBTA General Manager

Avian Influenza Circulating in Vermont

MONTPELIER, Vt. — The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is reminding the public to take precautions around wild birds, as highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) continues to circulate in the state.   Backyard flocks of domestic birds in Caledonia and Lamoille Counties have had to be destroyed after exposure to the virus, commonly known as avian flu.   "Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been detected in more than 70 wild birds since March, with cases reported most months and in every region of the state," said Wildlife Program Manager David Sausville.  "Many exposures come from migrating birds, so we expect case numbers to drop as winter

Massachusetts Adding Cannabis Education to Driving School Curriculum

PITTSFIELD, Mass.—Community leaders, residents, and scholars gathered at Tyler Street Lab to celebrate Kwanzaa Thursday evening. 

Throughout the night attendees danced, sang, and cheered throughout the ceremony and honored and celebrated the African diaspora’s seven principles including Umoja(Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), and Imani (Faith).

The Women of Color Giving Circle and Rites of Passage and Empowerment (ROPE) organized the event designating this year's theme Umoja.

Healey and Driscoll Appoint Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary
