It will truly feel like spring this week with warmer weather and rain.   Today, Monday, April 3, expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the high 50s, according to Accuweather.   There will be more of the same Tuesday but expect some morning showers.   Temperatures will drop into the high 40s on Wednesday, April 5.  Expect cloudy skies and showers, according to Accuweather.   Thursday is shaping up to be the warmest day of the week with a high of 68. Dalton Board: No Parking Signs on Daly Ave

DALTON, Mass.—The Select Board last week voted in favor of installing "No Parking" signs on Daly Ave near Zinky's Pub.   No parking signs will be installed on the east side of Daly from approximately 40 Daly Ave. to 48 Daly Ave.   Board members agreed with residents that the "sightline on the corner is pretty dangerous."   Neighbors said the parking on Daly has not only caused traffic congestion but has become a safety issue.    Resident Deborah Merry attended the Select Board meeting to urge the approval of the no-parking signs.   There was an incident where a resident needed an ambulance but emergency personnel were unable to get

Pittsfield Release Notice of Untreated Water Discharge

PITTSFIELD, Mass. The City of Pittsfield Public Utilities discovered a discharge of untreated wastewater on Wahconah Street near the Northern intersection with North Street.   The discharge began at approximately 7:30 a.m. on April 3, and it stopped at 8:30 a.m.   It was determined that this discharge was caused by A sewer main blockage at the Northern intersection of Wahconah Street and North Street.   The estimated discharge volume at the time of this notification is unknown, and the possible waterbodies affected include the West Branch Housatonic River.   This overflow consists of untreated or partially treated sewage and waste. Avoid contact with these waterbodies

MassDOT Launches Billboard Design Contest

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is launching a statewide billboard design contest to support the American Traffic Safety Services Association's (ATSSA) National Work Zone Awareness Week.     The contest is open to all students who are currently enrolled in colleges and universities in Massachusetts.     Applicants are asked to create and submit proposed billboard Public Service Announcements (PSA's) to encourage drivers to obey the rules of the road and exercise caution when travelling through work zones where crews are involved in active construction and maintenance projects.   "We hope this contest

Governor Appoints MBTA General Manager

Three Candidates Emerge For Pittsfield's Ward 3

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Three candidates have announced an intent to run for the Ward 3 council seat: Alisa Costa, Matthew Wrinn and William "Bill" Tyer.

Costa is a local advocate with a career in public policy and community organizing, Wrinn has a background in criminal justice and community involvement, and Tyer has served on various committees and boards in the community.
