Man Arrested in North Adams on Drug Trafficking Charges| 10:27AM / Tuesday, August 29, 2023 | |
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — On Aug. 24, Antonio Laboy, 26 of Springfield, was arrested during a traffic stop by the North Adams Police Department involving two vehicles. According to a report from the District Attorney's Office, the traffic stop was made on the grounds of an active investigation into drug trafficking in North County. The stops occurred on Church Street in North Adams, shortly after the vehicles crossed from Adams into North Adams. Laboy was a passenger in one of the vehicles at the time of the stop. Laboy is an alleged drug trafficker who has been traveling back and forth to Berkshire County from Springfield Massachusetts. The vehicles involved 0 Comments

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC) announces the signature of an articulation agreement with William James College (WJC) in Newton allowing BCC students to transfer seamlessly to WJC. The articulation agreement provides guaranteed admission for eligible BCC students to obtain a bachelor of science degree from WJC. Students who have completed an associate degree at BCC with a minimum of 60 credits in Liberal Arts (no concentration), Liberal Arts with Psychology Concentration, Human Services/Social Work Transfer or Criminal Justice, with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher, are guaranteed admission in WJC's Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human 0 Comments

DALTON, Mass. — Central Berkshire Regional School District is referring a draft of a new regional agreement to its lawyers to ensure clarity. The School Committee meeting was presented the draft on Thursday by Todd Emerson, chair of the Regional Agreement Amendment Ad Hoc Committee. The ad hoc committee has been working on the draft for the past year and received aid from Massachusetts Association of Regional Schools consultant Stephan Hemman. MARS serves as a consultant to aid districts in creating regional agreements between towns. DALTON, Mass. — The Central Berkshire Regional School Committee approved utilizing Yondr pouches in its middle and high schools during its meeting on Thursday night. The pouches allow cell phones and other devices to be locked magnetically so they cannot be used during school hours. The district was approved for a $20,000 grant to cover the first year costs of the initiative. The funds will cover the cost of the pouches, replacement pouches, training, the permanent infrastructure, including the magnet installations, and support during this change. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Seventeen Pittsfield Police officers can be found in the state's Peace Officer Training Standards Commission's misconduct database with allegations ranging from neglect of duty to racial bias and associating with known criminals. Some of the incidents date back more than a decade.
"The POST Commission Report is one step towards increasing transparency between policing and communities. Pittsfield has, and will continue, to provide information to the POST Commission," Mayor Linda Tyer said in response to a request for comment.

New staff Sheaden Callahan joins the BCC SUCCESS team as Clerk IV. She graduated from MCLA with a bachelor's degree in psychology and has resided in the area since then. Previously, she was a registration and reception assistant for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at BCC. The construction crew and officials wait for the first vehicle to pass over the completed span. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Community members and officials celebrated the opening of the Holmes Road bridge on Friday afternoon as the first cars passed over the finally completed span.
After a more than 60-day shutdown, the structure was finished on schedule and returned to two lanes for the first time in four years.
