Pittsfield Man Facing Prison on Firearms, Drug Convictions06:30PM / Wednesday, August 23, 2023 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A city man was found guilty on Wednesday on drug and firearms charges. A jury in Berkshire Superior Court convicted Jason McFadden, 43, on counts including illegal possession of a large capacity weapon and a firearm, possession of those weapons during commission of a felony, improper storage of firearms, and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Possession of a large capacity firearm during the commission of a felony carries with it a potential sentence of life in prison, according to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Union negotiations will continue at General Dynamics Mission Systems after a proposal was rejected by workers earlier this month. A couple of weeks ago, the IUE-CWA Local 81255 membership voted not to accept a package negotiated between IUE-CWA and General Dynamics representatives. Business agent James Mole reported that it was due to wages and benefits and that a strong majority of the membership voted "no." Members are hoping to go back into negotiations later this week, as the union's five-year contract expires on Aug. 27. There is no strike planned. The order requires owner Marisa Washburn to humanely restrain both her pug and Yorkshire terrier whenever they are outside of the home. Washburn, who attended the meeting, was issued two separate citations for not restraining her dogs but has not yet paid them. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — After years of anticipation, the Holmes Road bridge is on schedule for a Friday reopening. Earlier this month, the city reported that the contractor has been actively working on-site to ensure that this deadline is met. Bridge deck waterproofing was installed on Aug. 14 and paving followed. Currently, pavement can be seen on the structure. "We understand the inconveniences this DOT project has caused and deeply appreciate your patience during this work," an update on the city website reads. The bridge was reduced to one lane for four years after being found structurally insufficient and in need of a $3.5 million replacement of the overpass structure.
