PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Ward 1 Councilor Kenneth Warren wants to ask residents, "Should public safety leaders be required to reside in Pittsfield?" Included on the Tuesday, July 11, council agenda is a petition for a ballot question to ask voters if the restriction that requires such management positions to live in the city should be eliminated. This is a continuation of a conversation that began last month in the Ordinances and Rules subcommittee meeting. To be eligible for the dean's list, full-time students must achieve a GPA of 3.250 to 3.749 for an honors designation, while students with a GPA of 3.750 to 4.000 earn high honors. All dean's list students must have declared a major and must have completed at least 12 traditionally graded credit hours during a fall or spring semester of one academic year. The event is a partnership between the Dalton Green Committee and Berkshire Innovation Center in an effort to address the solid waste crisis because of the dwindling number of landfills. The forum runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with a reception at 5:30. MONTPELIER, Vt. — The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department says many people are having problems with bears looking for food near their homes, and with the food scrap ban in effect the department is providing tips for people who are composting at home so they can avoid attracting hungry bears.
