 DALTON , Mass. — Cassidy Flynn threw another complete game as the Berkshire Force 12U defeated the Greylock Thunder Klein, 10-4, in the Dalton CRA Softball Tournament Championship Game on Sunday. “They put it all together today,” Force coach Cliff Flynn said. “Really kept their heads in the game, always striving forward and giving it their very best efforts.” “We have already started to move some coaches and families down south toward Alabama for our World Series visit this week. AUGUSTA, Maine -- Norwalk, Conn., scored eight runs in the top of the fifth to break open a scoreless game and went on to a 10-0 win over the Pittsfield Babe Ruth 16-year-old All-Stars at the New England Regional on Sunday. Dylan Izzi went 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs for Norwalk, which held Pittsfield to four hits. Brenden Socie had two of those hits, including a double. Eddie Ferris also doubled, and Sam Glcokner had a hit in the loss. Glockner also threw an inning of scoreless relief. Pittsfield finishes pool play with a record of 1-2. DALTON, Mass. — Asbestos abatement in the police station is scheduled for Monday, but more work still needs to be done. The Select Board was notified of the safety concerns in the police station, located in the Town Hall basement, during its meeting on May 28. Issues in the station included plumbing, asbestos, mold, ventilation, mice, water damage, heating, and damage to cells. During the meeting, it became clear that the Town Hall basement is not a viable long-term location for the station, but short-term resolutions need to be implemented to make the space safe for its staff until the town can find a permanent location. LENOX, Mass. — U.S. Rep. Richard Neal joined state Rep. William "Smitty" Pignatelli this week to announce a $750,000 earmark for the Lenox Town Hall Restoration Project. Pignatelli has also temporarily stepped into the role of town manager. The allocation was made possible through Congressionally Direct Spending (CDS) from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The plant on Merrill Road owned by Pittsfield Generating. BEAT says the company has been in talks with the group. LEE, Mass. — Two peaker plants in Berkshire County have been out of service for two years and have been demolished. Local environmentalists are rejoicing.
"It's phenomenal," said Rosemary Wessel of the Berkshire Environmental Action Team. "To actually see the physical proof of a peaker plant not just shut down but removed is just more than we really expected and it's really great."

Eddie Ferris went 2-for-2 with a double and a pair of RBIs on a day when Pittsfield managed just three hits. "Hard fought win today for the boys from Pittsfield," coach Ben Stohr said.  DALTON, Mass. — The Berkshire Force 12U travel softball team ended the day with a 15-5 win over the Greylock Thunder, going 2-0-1 on the day in the CRA Softball Tournament on Saturday. It was a busy day Saturday for the Force with games against the Greylock Thunder Black, the Purple the ACS Swat. Berkshire came away with the top seed in the four-team field heading into Sunday's semi-finals. The Berkshire Force will play the Greylock Black again at 8 a.m. The Thunder Purple and ACS Swat will hook up at 9:45 with the winners advancing to the 1:15 tournament final.
