Berkshire Force Top Greylock Thunder in 12U Final at Dalton CRA Tourney

DALTON , Mass. — Cassidy Flynn threw another complete game as the Berkshire Force 12U defeated the Greylock Thunder Klein, 10-4, in the Dalton CRA Softball Tournament Championship Game on Sunday.   “They put it all together today,” Force coach Cliff Flynn said. “Really kept their heads in the game, always striving forward and giving it their very best efforts.”   “We have already started to move some coaches and families down south toward Alabama for our World Series visit this week. Funding was really significant to our travels in the coming days traveling south, a lot of programs and sponsors also helped us fund the trip.” said Force

AUGUSTA, Maine -- Norwalk, Conn., scored eight runs in the top of the fifth to break open a scoreless game and went on to a 10-0 win over the Pittsfield Babe Ruth 16-year-old All-Stars at the New England Regional on Sunday.   Dylan Izzi went 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs for Norwalk, which held Pittsfield to four hits.   Brenden Socie had two of those hits, including a double. Eddie Ferris also doubled, and Sam Glcokner had a hit in the loss.   Glockner also threw an inning of scoreless relief.   Pittsfield finishes pool play with a record of 1-2.   It placed second in its pool, which means a 10 a.m. elimination game on Monday morning against Vermont Champion

Dalton Police Station Gets Asbestos Abatement

DALTON, Mass. — Asbestos abatement in the police station is scheduled for Monday, but more work still needs to be done.    The Select Board was notified of the safety concerns in the police station, located in the Town Hall basement, during its meeting on May 28.    Issues in the station included plumbing, asbestos, mold, ventilation, mice, water damage, heating, and damage to cells.    During the meeting, it became clear that the Town Hall basement is not a viable long-term location for the station, but short-term resolutions need to be implemented to make the space safe for its staff until the town can find a permanent location.    Building

Neal Announces $750K Earmark for Town Hall Restoration

LENOX, Mass. — U.S. Rep. Richard Neal joined state Rep. William "Smitty" Pignatelli this week to announce a $750,000 earmark for the Lenox Town Hall Restoration Project. Two Berkshire Peaker Plants Have Been Put in the Past

LEE, Mass. — Two peaker plants in Berkshire County have been out of service for two years and have been demolished. Local environmentalists are rejoicing.

DALTON, Mass. — The Berkshire Force 12U travel softball team ended the day with a 15-5 win over the Greylock Thunder, going 2-0-1 on the day in the CRA Softball Tournament on Saturday.   It was a busy day Saturday for the Force with games against the Greylock Thunder Black, the Purple the ACS Swat. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- David Wildgoose went 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs Saturday to lead the Pittsfield Post 68 American Legion Juniors to a 17-1 win over North Adams Post 125 at Joe Wolfe Field.   Jason Codey and Colby Robb drove in three runs apiece as Post 68 cashed in on 18 walks.   Robb went the distance on the mound in the five-inning game, striking out seven and allowing two hits and no earned runs.   Post 68's juniors (12-2) host Belchertown Post 239 on Tuesday.   North Adams falls to 2-8 this summer.
