Lanesborough Search for Lewis Lent Evidence Comes Up DryBy Brittany Polito, iBerkshires Staff 08:09PM / Wednesday, June 19, 2024 | | LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Massachusetts and New York law enforcement officers searched for evidence linked to serial killer Lewis Lent Jr. at a local property on Tuesday. Nothing was found. According to the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office, the town property has previously been searched in connection with the same case. "No additional evidence was recovered during yesterday's search," DA spokesperson Julia Sabourin said. Dalton Library Getting a New Website By Sabrina Damms, iBerkshires Staff 03:17PM / Wednesday, June 19, 2024 | | DALTON, Mass. — The Dalton Free Public Library is getting a new website in the near future. The Library Director Janet Forest has been redesigning the website since April using Squarespace and hopes to launch it sometime in July. The new website will have a page that showcases the library's events and programming. Forest would also like to have a separate page on the site for the Friends of the Library so patrons can make donations. The website also runs through the Central and Western Massachusetts Automated Resource Sharing (CW-MARS) library consortium, so patrons can easily see the books available. Firewall Glitch Caused Mass 911 Disruption02:30PM / Wednesday, June 19, 2024 | | MILFORD, Mass. — State officials say a firewall on the 911 emergency system prevented calls from getting through on Tuesday, disrupting the system for a couple hours. The interruptions started at about 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday when the State 911 Department became aware of the situation. The disruption lasted approximately two hours until operation was fully restored at 3:15 p.m. Although some calls may not have gone through, the system allows dispatch centers to identify the phone number of callers and return those calls, according to a statement from the department. Berkshire County Awarded Fair Share Funds 08:03AM / Wednesday, June 19, 2024 | | BOSTON — The Healey-Driscoll administration announced that it is delivering more than $13 million for 14 projects to support local transportation infrastructure and other needs. At the same time, the city announced that lifeguards will return to the well-loved swimming spot. Voting was slow but steady at Lanesborough Town Hall. LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — The town had a steady and sweltering election day that saw Deborah Maynard elected to the Select Board. Maynard outpolled Joseph Trybus 181-87 to fill the seat left vacant by longtime board member John Goerlach. About halfway through polling hours, about 150 people had turned out in the 90-degree weather to cast votes for the Select Board, Finance Committee, Planning Board, library trustee, and town moderator.
