Miss Hall's School Presents 'Sense and Sensibility'

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Miss Hall's School Theater Ensemble presents Kate Hamill's adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility" in two shows — 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.    Performances take place in the Woods Theater of the Elizabeth Gatchell Klein Arts Center on the Miss Hall's campus.   Visit www.misshalls.org/fall-play to reserve tickets. BCC Players presents 'Mother of the Maid'

PITTSFIELD, Mass — BCC Players, Berkshire Community College (BCC)'s theatrical troupe, presents "Mother of the Maid" on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7 pm; Saturday, Nov. 18 at 1 pm and 7 pm; and Sunday, Nov. 19 at 1 pm.    The performances will be held in the Robert Boland Theatre, located on BCC's main campus at 1350 West Street, Pittsfield. Pittsfield Restructuring Survey Garners Engagement, Planners Faced with Alignment Options

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Pittsfield school district's restructuring survey garnered more than 2,800 responses from students, parents, staff, and community members.

Representatives with DRA Architects, the firm conducting the study, told the School Building Needs Commission on Tuesday that they are pleased with the level of participation. This is coupled with a number of community forums to hear directly from the Pittsfield Public School community and beyond.

Nearly 1,470 students responded to the survey with the highest response rates coming from Reid Middle School and Egremont Elementary School with well over 200 responses each. In contrast, Herberg Middle School had less

Berkshire Family YMCA Seeks New CEO

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Jessica Rumlow will be leaving the Berkshire Family YMCA (BFYMCA) at the end of the year to work for the Alliance of Massachusetts YMCAs as the Chief Operations Officer.    Rumlow has worked for the BFYMCA for 10 years and was appointed to the CEO position in 2019.   During her tenure at the BFYMCA she supported its expansion of services into Bennington, Vt.., and lead the organization through COVID, but her biggest accomplishment was completing the $12.4M renovation project of the historic Pittsfield Branch.   The Board of directors plans to conduct a national search for the next CEO. BRTA Fare Free Buses During the Holiday Season

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) announced that beginning Nov. 24, 2023, through Dec. 31, 2023, all BRTA bus and ADA complementary services will be free.   This is supported by a grant included in the state budget and awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.    The "Try Transit" initiative will be supported by the state grant that was awarded to fourteen of the Commonwealth's Regional Transit Authorities who worked together to submit a joint application and implementation plan. Marchetti Wins Corner Office in Pittsfield

Peter Marchetti speaks briefly at the gathering at the Berkshire Hills Country Club after a decisive victory.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The second time was the charm for Peter Marchetti.    Twelve years after his first run for mayor, Marchetti took the corner office winning every precinct and ward in the city over opponent John Krol. Voters Turning Out for Pittsfield Election

Plenty of room to vote at Capeless Elementary School during a slowdown earlier Tuesday. The city was at about a 16 percent turnout with five more hours of voting to go.  

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Voters are getting to the polls to elect the City Council, School Committee, city clerk, and a new mayor. 

There were 6,050 votes cast more than halfway through the day, which is a 19.64 percent turnout.  Numbers have already surpassed September's preliminary election, which had about 16 percent turnout. 

The last mayoral election saw a 42 percent turnout.
