WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Westfield Little League 11-year-old All-Stars Saturday rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game and went on to an 7-6, eight-inning win over Pittsfield American in an elimination game in the Section 1 Tournament. The hosts and designated visiting team went into its last at bat trailing, 5-2, after Pittsfield American scored three times in the bottom of the fourth to break open a tie game. The Americans got runners to second and third with two out in the bottom of the sixth, but Westfield got out of the jam to send the game to extra innings.  DALTON, Mass. – Just when the Berkshire Force 14-and-under softball team needed a lift, Isabella Williams delivered. Williams reached on a bunt single in the bottom of the fifth to ignite a five-run rally and send the Force on to a 12-7 win over the Lake Champlain Brewers in the title game of the Dalton CRA Invitational on Saturday. The Force went to the bottom of what was likely to be the game’s last inning due to time constraints – if it scored – coming off top of the fifth when an error helped the Brewers score four times to tie the game, 7-7. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — On Tuesday, July 11, Angel Nunez, age 52 of Troy, NY, was arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court. Nunez was charged with the following: Larceny Over $1200 By False Presence Identity Fraud, 2 counts RMV Document, Forge/Misuse, 2 counts Attempt to Commit Crime The Honorable Judge Pasquariello set $15,000 cash bail. The Commonwealth requested a $25,000 cash bail. Defense requested $2,500 cash bail. Nunez was arrested on July 10 at approximately 3:20pm after Pittsfield Police were dispatched to Berkshire Bank for a report of a male attempting to make a cash withdrawal using fraudulent identification. Lakarra Williams, Luis Ramirez, and William "Billy" Guzzo beamed with pride as they were applauded by friends, family members, and staff who help them along the journey. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — In response to a growing need for dental hygienists in Western Massachusetts, and to help attract students to the field, Berkshire Community College (BCC) has entered into an articulation agreement with Springfield Technical Community College (STCC). The agreement stipulates that BCC students may complete all 27 credits of their general education classes at BCC and are guaranteed a transfer of those credits to STCC towards an Associate in Science in Dental Hygiene degree, provided that students have earned a minimum grade of C in all equivalent courses. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity (CBHFH) invited Director of Administrative Services and Public Information Officer Catherine Van Bramer from the Mayor's office and the City of Pittsfield's Community Development Director Justine Dodds to a ceremonial groundbreaking at Habitat's new build site on Onota Street in Pittsfield. Habitat's community partner Walker Excavation has cleared the lot and will begin pouring the foundation.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Jake Knauth went 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs, and the Pittsfield Little League American Division 11-year-old All-Stars stayed alive in the Section 1 tournament with a 16-1 win over Leominster on Friday night. The Americans scored early and often, putting the game out of reach with an eight-run second inning and ending it by scoring three runs in the bottom of the third. With the win, Pittsfield American stays alive in the double-elimination tournament’s loser’s bracket. It moves on to a road game on Saturday to stay alive in the tournament. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mass Humanities, the Commonwealth's leading funder of humanities programs, announced that 35 organizations from Cape Cod to the Berkshires will receive grants totaling over $1.2 million, marking the largest single grant line in the history of the organization. In the Berkshires, Becket Athenaeum and Berkshire Pride received grants. The 2023 Staffing Recovery Grants deliver funding to non-profit organizations to sustain and expand the hours of current staff or to hire new staff in order to create, restore and grow humanities programs across the state. These included appointments, financial items, and the installation of electric infrastructure. Ward 2 Councilor Charles Kronick raised several concerns with appointments to the Charter Review Committee appointments, inciting a larger conversation. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city has another certified mayoral candidate and new interest in the wards and School Committee.
Councilor At Large Karen Kalinowsky has had her signatures certified after taking out papers last month. She had originally taken interest in returning to her seat at large but has dropped from that race to try for the city"s lead position.
So far, she and City Council President Peter Marchetti are the only certified mayoral candidates. John Krol, Craig Gaetani, and David Webber have also taken out papers.
Resident Daniel Miraglia has taken out papers for Ward 3 to run against Bill Tyer and Matthew Wrinn, who have both been certified.

The offense occurred in a residence in Adams on the evening of Jan 24, and the early morning hours of Jan 25.
